My FRS purchase was due to the 70's Capri

My looking at and buying the FRS is due to the mid 70's Capri. I remember watching the TV show CHIPS where they were dealing with a group of "Hill Racers" and one of their cars was a Capri. It planted the seed in the back of my mind of how fun it would be to have a car that was not really fast but did not need to slow down much around corners due to extensive suspension / tire upgrades. For many years every time I saw one I saw it as a hill racer in the making.

LOL. Mine was really very good to me. I used to love drifting it around corners in the rain. One day an idiot in a Ford Galaxy tried to stay with me, lost control and shoved me into a light pole. At that point it did, in fact, become Mercury debris.

Though the Cosworth Escorts had about the same cache.

We had a racer here who really threw around his Capri. Became quite a ‘cult’ car in motoring circles because of him.
I wonder if YouTube has any videos... Sarel van der Merwe was his name.

I bet I'm the only guy on this board who ever owned a Simca Bertone. Hell, probably the only guy on the entire internet. I also had a DKW which no one could get within a half block behind because of the opaque blue cloud from the two-stroke oil. I had a lot of fun with that thing. Then there was a Morris Minor, 1600 MKII MGA coupe with ROLL-UP WINDOWS already, and a Triumph 650 motorcycle with the shift and brake levers reversed.

My Fiat 128 sedan and wagon were downright commonplace compared to that list...lol. Still, some of the best bang for the buck cars I've ever had.

I had a FIAT 500 Abarth with coilovers and an intake. Slow by today's standards, but an absolute riot to drive, and sounded the business. However, the Mexican-assembled vehicle had much to be desired with respect to QC. Fun car, though!

Geo Metro convertible with a body kit, all blacked out lights, lowered, header, and tuned to a massive 90HP!
Was fun as hell and nobody could figure out what it was.
Like below but painted in British Racing green.

I agree those are some of the best sounding cars hands down.
