Im curious as to "what's the point?" It's a drain plug........my Celica does just fine with the OEM plug from Toyota.(I've change it every couple of years and the gasket get changed every oil change.

Are they like the older GM plugs that had the little magnet in the end that doesn't really do anything?

Oh ok. So like the old GM plugs. Those never work from the thousands of oil changes I've done on them. I may have to give these a try just for cursioties sake.

I've used many of these type plugs,in both engines and transmissions. They're pretty rugged, and are really nice to have. Not only do they show you the amount of metal shavings present in the oil, they collect the shavings preventing them from being recirculated through the engine or gears. Found a couple of gear teeth on a plug in a transmission once. Sure, glad they didn't get rattled around and passed back through the gears in the box.
