Once you get that vehicle inspection sticker, the "visual" inspection you guys keep referring to is a different matter.

The visual inspection is based on YOUR car and not the model your car is based on.
And that's the problem, getting the sticker.

Yes the referee that you linked is an easier process as engine swaps are normal and California actually has pretty fair principles imo (engine same age or newer than chassis, all emissions intact). If any emissions part doesn't fit into the bucket of either OEM or CARB approved modification off to lab testing you go.

You're right, once you get your sticker they just check to make sure everything is in working order and that you're not obviously gaming the system. As long as you're not fucking around your once every two year inspection will be a breeze.

Sucks for you guys, but stop bashing, because for other it might be better and make a lot more sense.

Here in Europe the car culture is quite different. STOHL is based in Germany, I'm from Germany, so that is perfect for me. Supercharger and turbocharger kits just are not common here in Europe and hard to get. If STOHL can get this conversion FA20DIT kit done and TUV legal in Germany, that is much for me than any other 'bolt'-on kit.

The Twin don't sell here in Europe, they can be had new for EUR 25K, when list price is above EUR 30K. They can be bought used low kilometers for under EUR 20K. Now if the conversion costs EUR 10K all included, this means I can get a used Twin and with conversion get 300 PS engine for EUR 30K. This basically means I pay the same price for as for a dealer new Twin, but WRX STI (JDM) engine. It just cannot be better than that.

So haters, just get the f*ck off if you are not interested.

What makes you think the WRX s4 doesn't have an FA20dit in it?

Please keep in mind that this is the very first prototype, so there was no focus on fancyness with regards to polished pipes or anything else.
Also EGT and EMAP Sensors still in place

Well it has been almost a full month since your last post and I am far too excited to see the final product. I know you are busy and all but maybe another teaser pic and a little more info on what is left to finalizing this project?

Also, in the distant future I want to install nearly everything from the 2015 wrx drivetrain into maybe say a 2003 wrx. Do you think that using parts of your kit would make it any easier? Do you think the 2015 engine would bolt right up to the 03 frame? Essentially I would want to use an old body with nearly everything new from the 2015 without any welding to the frame itself. the interior will be stripped so it doesn't bother me too much where anything is mounted when it comes to drilling new holes or fitting the steering components properly. A custom subframe I am sure would be needed to fit the turbo down there and also a custom driveshaft for a possible different distance from trans to diff. I would be gutting the 2015 car and putting it in a GD body.

An intercooler upgrade is not illegal under california law for engines that have intercoolers to begin with.

I'm generally against turboing this car, but this is a pretty sweet swap.
