Purolator Pure One 14459 with Filtermag HP300
Changed Factory Oil and Filter at 41 miles with Pennzoil Ultra Changed Oil and Filter at 1025 miles, added Ran-UP oil additive with Pennzoil Ultra. Very quiet engine. Changed Oil and Filter at 2271 miles with Eneos Sustina 0W20 Changed Oil and Filter at 8917 miles with Eneos Sustina 0W20 , oil cooler installed. I am going to try Millers CFS 0w20 NT at my next oil change. http://www.millersoils.co.uk/news/20...Power-Test.asp After years of excellent service from Motul 8100 Eco-energy (UOA's are excellent) in my 2006 Sienna, I tried the EE Longlife 5W30 ECO. Wow! Fuel economy improved, the engine is quieter, NanoDrive Technology, very interested in UOA after 8500 miles (current service interval with Motul 8100 Eco-energy) on the 3.3L V6. Maybe Millers will work as well in my daughters FRS.

Holy mackerel, you love to spend money on oil!
IMO, those frequent oil changes do not seem to have helped with the reduction in break-in metals much. Your numbers look similar to some that have done only one oil change in the same number of miles. My lowest uoa wear numbers in my Forester XT have come from Motul, although I haven't tried Eneos or Millers. -Dennis |

I realize it now, I am stupid, I will learn from this.

Well at least you've done uoa's so now you know! It's also interesting to see uoa's every 1k miles without draining the oil (samples taken through the dipstick tube). Sometimes uoa wear reads higher in the first couple of thousand miles as compared to the latter part of the oci. Used oil can be better than new.

Get a Fumoto drain valve*, drain contents into a clean container large enough, take a "mid-stream" sample, refill engine with used oil. You can get a pretty good gauge of oil condition and push out the change intervals without actually changing out all the oil. -alex *Fumoto valve makes it easier. You can do the same with a stock drain too but that makes a mess. |

Thanks for sharing this noteworthy uoa, Tony. After logging mega miles on this oil with my basic, fuel injection, asian 4 cylinder, I have been waiting for some gdi results. Fuel dilution must be monitored. Did you notice any difference in performance with the Sustina? I can't wait to see how Miller's looks. What the heck, I am going to try it myself. Thanks again.

The car is too low for the school parking lot speed bumps, a few scraps on the engine bay belly pan already. Can't go there, and she is being careful with the car.

Yes, my daughter's first words were "what did you do to the engine"?

Planning on doing my first oil change before storage with the OEM filter and regular ENEOS 0w-20. Next change I'm going to try the Sustina. (I bought 6x standard oil analyses from Blackstone as well)

tonystewart, it may be that you are not experiencing as much shear as thought; my voa from Blackstone gave me these reported numbers:
sus viscosity@210ºF. 51.1 cSt viscosity@100ºC 7.60 |

I hate to be that guy that revives a year old thread, but after considerable reading and research, I'll be switching over to ENEOS Sustina 0W20 as my engine oil. I'll be using the ENEOS Sustina 0W20 alongside with the OEM Subaru Oil Filter. The Sustina seems to fit my criteria of daily driving and being economically efficient. As soon as I change the oil, I'll give my initial impressions and long term verdict!
2000 miles update: Everything seems to be working really well and smooth, nothing odd or suspicious. Might I add, I do seem to be getting slightly better gas mileage with my type of driving (70% highway, 28% city, 2% canyoning). I used to get around 300 ~ 315 miles per full tank of gas (around 10 gallons or so) and now, with the Eneos 0w20, I'm getting around 320 ~ 350 miles per full tank. With that being said, I do sometimes smell an odd aroma, whenever I downshift down after leaving the freeway-- something that smells very similar to sesame oil. I don't know if it's oil burning or the engine getting slightly rich or lean, but it's something I'm noticing a lot. I'll do more research before I get back to that smell.
