Anyone using their frs\86's as weekend cars or everyday use?
I have an old corolla that I drive to work and finding i drive the frs on weekends...or goin out
It just sits in my garage most of the week

does a car like this needs to be driven or not putting a lot of miles in it won't hurt?

I traded an '02 Mazda Miata on my new FR_S. It had 38,000 miles on it. That's 3,800 miles a year average. Other than routine oil changes, wipers, tires the only thing it needed was a new battery.

If you just use it for week-ends and special occasions it should provide you a lot of pleasure for a long time.

I plan on driving it when the weather allows till summer then all bets are off this is such a fun car to drive ..

I am garaging the FR-S Nov to April. Originally bought an xB last fall, much less costly car than usual but I liked the look/thought is was a great deal if not somewhat novel and practical. I caught wind of the FR-S (looking at Scion stuff online). I just jumped and preordered as soon as I received notification they were taking orders.

Fast forward to August, very little interest in my xB on Autotrader. Had to keep it insured to try and sell it. Finally gave up so FR-S is driven in nice weather and usually looks really clean. The xB is for rainy days dor now and will be the winter car.

Next year will only insure 1 car at a time while the other receives minimal coverage and stays in the garage.

I don't know about you, but I find insurance really expensive with both cars on the road simultaneously.

I'm 48 with a good driving record.

When I can afford both, I will be using my future BRZ for a summer DD and a WRX for a winter DD

The twins are reasonable to buy, insure, good on gas; needless to say, mine is my DD and my only vehicle.

A friend of mine has a Toyota Echo with 36000 miles...it's an '03 model! I have just over 160k on my '03 vehicle. My vehicle is in better condition in several areas and not just from taking care of it or the lack thereof on the Echo owners part.

The point I'm getting at is that the car will definitely still age and wear out after time regardless of driving it or not. Specifically the rubber pieces throughout the vehicle are the parts that will wear out no matter what. They still need care and maintenance.

It also needs to be started up at the very least every week for the battery.

Most rubber components don't "wear out". Usually they suffer from exposure to the environment. The best thing you can do to insure the longivity of your ride is to keep it salt free and keep it garaged.

lol weekend car this is an entry level sports car i don't really see anything that needs to be preserved or especially taken care of.. i don't even care about parking away from cars in the parking lot lol it may be a nice looking car but at the end of the day its still just a scion. i know many people on this site will park the away from the crowds and all that i'm not hating..more power to them (and excercise)

something about this car just makes me have no problems with mashing on the gas pedal all the time..its pretty good on gas and it just feels so durable and well built like its built to take a good beating like any great daily driver should.

also i love how effortless the steering is. going back to my other car seems like a workout now
