I test drove both FR-S and BRZ but i don't hear damm bad sound from them since i am not very familiar with d/i engine.

I might have to wait until December or next year if i don't take it.

any other opinion or comments?

Good points! But it "could" have been "babied" for those 79 miles! Who "knows"! Good "luck" OP!

If it was dealer transfer, the miles were almost for sure easy miles. Either way, I would take it, or at least not let the 79 miles bug me. My FR-S had less than 20 and is a lemon now (or soon will be). My BRZ had 60 miles and has ran great so far.

Firstly...if you are losing sleep over the 70 odd miles on the car then pass. Also, tell the dealer you refuse to pay for the extras and see what happens.

I hope you're not limiting your time you will wait for the right car.

December is literally month and a half away. Next year will be here in two and a half months. I would rather wait for a brand new car with < 10 miles that will cost less and is much, much less likely to have been beat on without your knowledge.

If you get this 79 mile car and pay extra for all the crap they put on it, you'll always be wondering in the back of your mind whether it was run to redline repeatedly during the test drives.

one thing I would look at is if this is an early production model. look at the VIN and see if it falls under the defective ECU category. other then that, try to find imperfections and talk your way down as much as possible.

I would wait until after December. I mean, why not? It's not like the world is gonna end...

My car had 97 miles, 'bout 30 was from transport from another dealer. Realistically, it's a sports car, are you never going to rev it up or slide a bit? I think for most of us, those 79 miles will be a drop in the bucket of spirited driving. Don't forget, there's people (like me) who drive carefully test driving cars they're not familiar with.

Also, like you, the car I was offered in lieu of my order had over $900 in options. I asked the salesman if we were still looking at the original quoted price as the options were outside the budget I had planed for. Wasn't charged for them.

The mileage wouldn't scare me off at all. As was mentioned before, dealer swaps are typically done by old guys who don't give a crap about the cars, they're just running errands. Even if it was beat on, your warranty starts at the mileage you get it at, you have until 60,079 miles to have it replaced under warran-free if there's any issues. The engine is redlined before it leaves the factory, so stop whinging over the break-in period.

The only real issue is the few hundred bucks in accessories. Is it worth it to spend that money to get the car a couple months early? That's what you have to decide.

OP- wow you must not be too sold on the car or just lack the excitement or drive if that's all it takes to make you consider not taking the car.

I was excited like crazy when I got mine and 70 miles wouldn't even make me think twice. But that's me, I'm in love with the car and was so excited to get it.
A car that is ruined in 70 normally driven miles...hmmmm.

If everyone reacted with "NO" every time with 70 miles there would be a whole bunch of worthless unsellable product. Some people are so extreme with their idea of perfection I wonder if reality ever gets thru. That is why I feel you should pass and let someone who is foolish and naive fall for that 70 mile beater.
