Remote starters.

A lot of the threads about these are old and don't have a lot of owner experiences. Does anyone have a remote starter?

I have a limited (at) and push button seems to be an automatic +$100 charge.

I was quoted $600 (installed) for a two-way viper, but that's sooo expensive.

I'm looking at an ultrastart 1172x pro. The fob is shaped like a pencil, smaller than other fobs. The reviews that I can find are so-so, but my parents have one in their murano and they haven't had any issues. I was quoted $380 for that one (installed).

I've had it on previous cars... IMO they are a total waste of money. All they do is burn gas and your car doesn't even get THAT warm. Drive the car for 2 mins is the equivalent of starting the car and letting it "warm up" for 7-10 minutes...

Not to mention the potential electrical problems you may have from a poor install, wrong wire tapped etc... and having push button start further complicates the install process.

Not worth the hassle. But maybe its just me. There's something gratifying about turning a key or pushing the "Start Engine" button.

I wasn't looking for reasons not to get one. The amount of gas it uses is very minor.

It also does NOT take 2 minutes for the car to warm up when driving.

A reputable installer will help avoid any issues and is not even worth mentioning as any modification done by anyone has the risk of being done incorrectly.

After having a push start since May, there is nothing gratifying about turning a key, or pushing a button.

I had a starter in my previous car and it worked just fine and I was very satisfied getting into a warm car during the winter, still achieving filling up my tank once every two weeks while working 7 days a week.

When you get a good answer please let me know. So far I haven't seen a good solution. I'm in the same boat.

Practical uses aside... it's just so cool to be able to start your car from the coffee table and listen to that cold start before you get up to throw your empty cup away

yeah it doesn't seem like many people have them..then again, the majority of owners are probably west coast and southern east coast for the US.

I'm probably going to go with the ultrastart. It's basic, but that's all i really need. I can't justify spending $600 for cool LEDs on a fob.
