I drive 85km per day, a lot of it at 130-140km/h and the bumper on my previous grey G37 was amazingly pitted after 3 years and 60k km but hidden at least a bit due to the color. I've had the bra on my Audi wagon for 8 years and only wish that I had done the roof like the FR-S - many chips there, one deep enough to make even the Audi start to rust as it gouged through the galvinization. I plan to get that corrected as best I can and then the entire car brought back to near factory and the clear bra redone (now including roof).

The week after I got the clear bra a dump truck ahead of me hit a bump and lost a ton of loose dirt out the back - got it done not one day too soon!
Which location did you go to?

I actually have clear bra 1/4 hood/fender, and mirrors, I got a scratch on the bumper though, I didn't bother clear bra'ing it because it's plastic and I'll probably use Dr. Color chip or something to fix it up later.

I went to Marco at Advanced Automotive Films (used Kevin at GTA In Detail for the detailing - they share the workspace in back). Pics before the bra are at http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...1&l=b9a56422bf

They're out in Mississauga on Meyerside.

............... I got my car opti-coated by James from Sunset detailing last Saturday, then I decided to take a trip to San Diego the following day.....
not only it got a stone chip on the way to San DIego, on the way back, someone spilled probably a box worth of plastic plates/sheets.
Having a car right on my ass, I can't really do an emergency break... so I had to drive through at around 60 miles per hours.

Needless to say... that damaged my front bumper with some more chips, and knock off the paint completely in a 1/4 inch by 1/8 in area. .... Orz

Maybe I'm jumping the gun or assuming incorrectly........

Opti coat WILL NOT PREVENT stone chips, anyone that sells it as such is misleading. If you want to prevent chips get a clear bra, don't follow anyone while driving or don't drive the car.

Cheers,
GREG

Not 2 weeks of owning the car (raven) I got a chip on the edge of the hood and one on the dang spoiler. How the heck did something make it all the way back to the top of the spoiler

Maybe i'm missing something but if it doesn't help with rock chips? then why would i pay to have it done?

and paint or something about the newer cars has to do with chipping since rocks weren't invented recently and my driving hasn't changed.

Clear-bra if done right is nearly invisible and saves your paint.

Opti coat is as many detailers will tell you "a wax on steriods", basically a thin extra layer of clear coat, NOTHING more. As said again and again it does nothing to prevent rock chips and so on, get a Xpel or 3M bra if you want chip protection.

I've already got a good one on the hood from debris from an earlier fender bender getting kicked up and hitting my hood probably 2ft from the front edge. I'd have had to clear bra the whole thing to prevent it. And then.. another I am not sure how but behind the drivers door about half way up.

I ran out of spare cash for clear bra, kinda wish I hadn't... though it was a choice... the WORKS or the bra... I went with the wheels!

I plan on keeping the car along time so mebbe when I get the front end repainted I'll add the clear bra.

I have plus plus paint chips as well. I was planning on using some touch up paint to help it. Never do this so I need some help. I do recall a thread about how to touch up paint. Anyone link me please?

Also, should I be washing, waxing, detailing prior to the touch up? or do that after I touch up?

I ran into this the other day. Touch up paint from Dupi-color. Has anyone used it? Good? bad? http://www.duplicolor.com/products/scratchFix/. Should I just stick to Toyota paint?
