Race car drivers do it to keep their tires warm so they have max grip the second they pull out of the garage...duh

^ Either that or it's a magic carpet that allows his FR-S to take flight.

Congrats, 636!

It was an old oriental rug that I found lying around that had ONE hole in it. It was being thrown out and I didn't want it to go to waste.

As far as how it compares to STi's, refer back to my first post! Editing it now.

Kidding aside, that last picture you post makes the car look amazing. I haven't gotten around to taking pictures of mine yet. Whiteout FTW!!!

I'm about to head out and show all my friends my new car, but I'll update this thread with photos as it happens!

Finally happy to be a part of the 86 family.

Edit 1: Well, first day down with the FR-S and I must say, I wasn't expecting this much. Coming from a 350WHP STi, I was expecting something that wouldn't compare to this, at all. But boy, was I wrong. This car is a BLAST, while not fast compared to that, it handles, and it does it well. Still at only 300 miles (all today mind you!) it's not broken in yet, but I'd be lying if I said I haven't redlined it yet. I just had to feel it! As for the motor, the exhaust note is gorgeous, as is the exterior. This thing is snapping necks better than my STi is!

One thing I've noticed is that when I shift from fourth to fifth, it seems to slip into third easier/more often. I know I'm probably just on STi gears, but does anyone else find them putting it into third before they realize and switch over to fifth?

But alas, I'm tired. So I'm going to finish editing some pictures I took tonight, and head to bed. Until next time!

Here's one of the pictures I actually enjoyed:
High Five! I am a whiteout owner as well! Good to hear you are enjoying it. As for the gears, they took me about two weeks to learn well. Also after doing first maintenance everything seems to smooth out.

Very cool updated image...

... Regarding the 4th to 5th shift, I can relate. It's not so much of a problem, but something that I just had to learn & adapt to. And I learned that you really have to bring it more towards neutral, and then push to the right and then up. The push to the right is what I really had to adapt to, since in most of the cars I've been through, you can smoothly go diagonal... Yet in this you just have to emphasize on pushing to the right (before you can accidentally slip into 3rd).

Feel free to correct me if I've mistaken in my explanation.

Enjoy the car, and I don't blame you for redlining at least once during break-in... I did also, lol.

I know most people put the rug there so when they work on a car and it drips fluids, it doesn't stain the garage floor ruining the value. It's either that or you ruin a rug.

And the car looks great. Good luck on your build! I will be getting my whiteout within the year.

yup, i slipped into 3rd a few time so i now find myself hang on to the clutch half a second longer whenever i feel unsure so i can double check. and just like others have said, after the breakin the gear smooths out noticeably.

congrats and enjoy
