And power, and speed, and $1,100 from your wallet. It's fine, really! I should be thanking you for choosing the auto. Like I said before, 20 years from now when the enthusiasts have run all the manual cars into the ground, there will be plenty of clean, unmolested auto cars left for people to snatch up and do manual conversions to. If we're even driving gas-powered cars 20 years from now at the rate we're going

I've read every article reviewing the auto 'box for the past 2 months, just as I'm sure you have. Doesn't change my mind.

Has it actually been proven that you have to shift before you hit 60 MPH? That was only a problem in the BRZ on that one test car.

Now the cars shown in the videos in Japan (86 VS BRZ VS MX-5) are production JDM cars. |

When you say "speed," you mean 0-60? If so, the slightly taller gear ratio might get the AT to true 60 mph without shifting to 3rd, so any advantage that the MT has could be negated in a 0-60 test. We will have to wait on that one too. |

MT on the other hand - indeed a brand new one. JDM video was funny - I wonder why BRZ won over 86 by a rather big margin. I was surprised to see that. |

I guess my definition of driving is different than yours.
Look, I don't care if you want a CVT or a dishwasher in the 86; a manual transmission is fun. I don't think you're less of a man for wanting an auto, hell, it's probably faster on a track, but I'll never be on a track. A good manual provides an experience and a level of involvement that I don't think an auto will ever have. But driving a MT shouldn't be a chore. If it is, well, thank Toyobaru for making your dreams come true. |
