Whiteout "8ROKU" build from Dallas (Frisco)

A lot of this malarky is posted elsewhere on the forum, but I figured I'd do a proper journal. So, before receiving my car which I ordered on 5/15/13 I ordered a custom plate... (i just photoshopped it on to a nice GT86) I know not many people outside of here will get it, but I bought the car for my wife and she wanted something hachiroku related...

mod list to date (6/18/13)
"8-ROKU" custom plates with some cool antitheft bolts
Toyota T logo up front
GT86 logo centered on rear
6k HIDs
interior LED
trunk LED
DRL LED
OEM foglight/DRL LED strip (meh)
Sonic Beat shark fin
Dealer installed window tint
Dealer installed 3M clear bra
Motegi Hyper Black Sp10 18x8 +40 w/ Falken 912 235/40/18
Kahtec unit on lower brake light
BRZ fender vents
2014 OEM 6.1" touch screen headunit w/ EnTune enabled Navigation module

Mod day 2: I picked up the car from Toyota of Plano on June 7th, only a 3 week wait for a 6spd whiteout, not too shabby. My first mission was 6k HIDs (cheap ones on eBay), LED DRLs, LED interior lights, LED trunk light and Toyota front/GT86 rear emblem. I ended up JUST putting the GT86 on the rear of the car where the old Scion logo was. Looks pretty cool to me. Also, I was AMAZED how nice the interior LED light was. It really made quite a difference. Also tossed on some JDM clear markers.

Mod mission 3: I wanted to have some wheels ready to go before I even got the car, but my wife would NOT decide on any. She liked the OEM ones better than ANYTHING else she saw. We played with the idea of LFA wheels, but they're not available in 5x100 so we would have had to do spacers conversion. After looking at a ton of cars for a week or two, I came across FastLanes FRS and liked his wheels a lot, so we went with 18x8 hyper black Motegi SP10s (lol, $144 w/ 2nd day shipping included from Amazon.com) and 235/40/18 Falken Ziex 912s all the way around. Car seems a little more stiff with those 235s on, but still feels great. (this is within 7 days of picking up the car).

I think I'll get on 3dcarstickers.com and order some custom GT86 center caps to cover the Motegi logo

Mod minute 4: before buying the car, my wife also decided that she liked the BRZ fender vents. Unfortunately I couldnt find anyone that wanted to trade, and to order them prepainted form Japan was like $300+. Instead I bought them unpainted from Subaru for $130ish, then bought some paint for $60 and then had my buddy spray them for $100. Still came out to $300, but I've got a good bit of extra paint leftover. Popped em on Sunday (about 9 days in to ownership)... Also had the dealer apply 3M clear bra (paint protection) and window tinting. I was very specific to make sure they tinted the whole rear window! A lot of dealers cut out a square by the 3rd brake light which looks dumb to me. Oh yeah, cant forget the sonic beat shark fin.

Tedious mod 5: today I decided to add a brake light on the lower garnish where the reverse lights are. Wasn't too painful, but took me 2 hours and I was RIGHT in the Texas sun the whole time. I installed it with the kahtec blinker unit so that the light flashes 3 times when you touch the brakes. I jacked Jake's picture, but you get the idea... he disconnected his 3rd brake light (up top) but I left mine in.

Did you happen to write up a DIY? Could you suggest a DIT write up that was helpful to you?

just look in the DIY section for rear fog light install (on the first page near the top, popular mod). look towards the end and I put in my 2 cents about the install.

pretty easy. use a flat head to remove the two clips that hold the black plastic under tray to the body (actually brackets) near the exhaust.

remove the clips, on the sides of the reverse lights
remove both light bulbs

spread apart stupid black clip on bottom of lights

remove top 2 10mm bolts

if using kahtec blinker unit... blue wire goes to positive wire on new brake light. black wires goes to black wire on new brake light AND y it off so you can ground it to the body somewhere, the red wire on the kahtec will run in to the trunk and up to the green wire on the upper deck/3rd/middle brake light.

thats it
