I mean its not like its a widespread issue.. Yet atleast. It happens, part of life. The dealer knows I've done more than just install a CAI. But they're good people and I'm fortunate for them to cover all this under warranty. Because from reading other peoples experiences at dealers with CEL issues with aftermarket parts, they're not getting as much slack :/

I took it to the dealer. They asked me if I had any mods and I said I don't have any mods to the powertrain. They replaced the coils under warranty.

I had one track day after that but was a low speed track and not much WOT and no CEL. I will be on the track this weekend on two much faster tracks. I will see if I get any CEL and report here.
Just an update. 6 more track sessions (2 in rain) with plenty WOT and no CEL.

Confirmed sofware update for injector seal failure.

It says the Root Cause:
Under certain engine operating conditions, significant increased temperature & cylinder pressure occurs due to combustion knocking.
Combustion knocking occurs only when the following conditions are met:
1. Full engine acceleration, Wide Open Throttle [ON->OFF->ON within 0.6sec] during gear shifting.
2. The above operation occurs when the engine rpm is above 5200rpm. = shifting up rapdily from 3rd to 4th, 4th to 5th, 5th to 6th from 7450 rpm. (E.g. shifting from 3rd @ 7450rpm up to 4th finishing @ 5864 rpm)

NOTE: Investigation results revealed that this condition is observed during track usage, and a unique aggresive driving style, not during normal driving.

That last part pisses me off to no end, So running the car up to the factory rev limiter and shifting gears is considered aggressive track driving... sounds like they intend on F'ing people out of the warranty repair of the seals.

So are they going to push this software update to all BRZ/FR-S cars as well or only the ones that start misfiring?

I'm going to ferrit out what they are changing, all the tuners should have updates before long. I would highly suggest getting the update if you are not tuned yet.

Can you get the update in the states? Seems like all the guys who have gotten it are in south Africa.

Yeah, those vin numbers are not north america so we may have to wait. Once i find out what tables were changed and how, i will post up the info.

Anyone having the injectors repaired, I would print out the images of the doc and take them to the dealer and ask them to call toyota about a fix for their region.

Everyone in the USA should call these numbers and ask for the ecu flash.

1 800 331 4331
1 866 707 2466

I plan on harassing them as much as possible until they do something about it.

Might happen faster if more people do the same.

You got a number for Subaru? Would be great to have a (somewhat) direct line to their national level service department, like the folks who write the TSBs...

Paging @Opie !

Unfortunately not. My dealer gave me the Toyota one, and Toyota gave me the Scion one.

Everyone with an FRS should call the Scion number and tell them your car has the symptoms of the injector seal failure because they won't listen if you're car isn't showing those symptoms.

They didn't ask to test it when they asked if my car had the problem.

On a side note, does anyone know if the frs has an air injection pump like some wrxs. She told me there fix was to replace the air injection pump. I'm thinking she might be confusing the di fuel pump tsb.
