Tire Size Examples for 18x8.5

Recently purchased a set of WORK Emotion D9R from japan for a really good deal. Traditionally would go with a 9.5 but like said i could not pass this up. Now im trying decide what size tire to run. If anyone here has a 18x8.5 wheel with one of the following tire sizes drop a pic

225/35/18
235/40/18

Mainly considering the 225 or 235 but also curious to see the stretch on a 215

215/35/18
215/40/18

Much appreciated

But presently I run 255/35/18 Firestone Firehawk Indy 500.
I will try to get pictures up soon of the current set up

Okay thank you. Do you have any closer pics of the 235, trying to see how much stretch if any on a 235 on a 8.5 wheel.

235 is ideal for 8"-8.5" wide wheels, there shouldn't really be much if any stretch. 225 is considered the minimum for 8.5" but you could totally stretch a 215.

I'm running 225/40/18 on 18x8.5" wheels and while it does seem to have a little bit of stretch, it seems to perform flawlessly and even then it has increased the overall diameter of the wheel/tire combo. (625mm to 637mm) which makes my speedo off slightly. 235/40 would be around 645mm diameter, so a full 20mm more than stock tire/wheel combo.

Why is there a belief that 235/40 is more proper than 225/40 in this case? 245/35 is closest in diameter (625mm to 629mm) and has almost non-existent speedo difference.

go for it. Look at my IG in case you wanna see more pics. I don't have one focusing just on the wheels unfortunately. There is a bit of a stretch though.

The number of 235/35/18 tires available is close to ZERO.

OP, tire width varies on brand and model quite a bit. Meaning a Michelin 225/40 will most likely look different than a 225/40 (enter brand) on a 18x8.5.

Example:
MPSS 245/35/18 tire = 9.2 tread width
MPS4S 245/35/18 tire = 8.4 tread width
