I've been itching to finally do something about my stock midpipe as it's 2.1 inches, stamped and notched all over.
I could get the made-to-order Works 2.5" midpipe that's coated aluminized steel for $399 to match up with my axleback, OR I could get a new full 2.5 inch t304 stainless resonated catback from Tsudo instead for $380 shipped via Speed Element. I searched and found that @glamcem removed a Tsudo catback and switched to a different one thinking it wouldn't fit with the DWL diffuser but I'm pretty sure it will fit without any major clearance issues. Especially considering where the stock midpipe comes in past the subframe: The Tsudo midpipe comes in at the same spot and should clear the diffuser ok if I lower the leading edge enough. The midpipe may rest on it like the stock mp does. I can also grind a bit of material off the diffuser if necessary. The Tsudo muffler is tucked in nicely and doesn't hang low enough to interfere with the diffuser. My Works ABM axleback will be for sale once this new catback is installed. Yours is definitely one of my favorite 86's. I need to get down to Road Atlanta and run with you guys. CMP is fun, but I'm ready for something new.

Heavy muffler looks heavy. If making a change, I would look to a lightweight single muffler. Definitely get a full 2.5" or bigger setup on the car from the header back. Do you have the stock overpipe as well?

Tsudo was also a bit louder compared to Q300 and lastly Q300 looks a bit better (not that I care about the looks but it's an added bonus)

The catback is advertised to be significantly lighter than the stock 38lb catback, but the axleback section is likely a bit heavier than my current 15lb Works axleback with a small canister muffler. I'm going with the Tsudo because it's cheaper and is made of better materials versus getting the Works 2.5" midpipe made to order. I really can't justify the $680 price of the Q300 knowing my main objective is to make everything 2.5" headerback and keep costs low without deleting the muffler or resonators. If I didn't have to stay under the 98 db limit at AMP where I frequently track the car I'd consider getting the Tsudo race catback which is essentially the same but with a centrally fed dual-exit muffler delete. It would probably be droney on the street (like all dual-exit muffler deletes that don't have resonators) and too loud for AMP. Last edited by ATL BRZ; 08-14-2014 at 05:04 PM. |

You should post that in the Vishnu tuning BPB thread: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...t=62471&page=6 Last I heard Shiv is still not having any success making power with BPB and E85. |

Ordered a few more items for the car this afternoon.
Shorai LFX BMS01 battery charger to maintain and internally balance the cells in my new battery. MTec shifter springs: I've been wanting a tighter, more direct shift feel as I've been having rare issues on track with quick 5-4 and 3-2 downshifts finding the lower gear with certainty. Whiteline KDT925 Rear Differential Cradle and support outrigger bushings. I've been noticing the sloppyness of the stock rubber diff bushings more and more since installing the rear subframe lockout bushings. I've read these diff bushings are a nice compliment to liven up the rear end of the car and I've been meaning to get them for a while now. I figure the shift springs and diff bushings can go on with the new catback all at once on the lift to make things easier. |

Might as well just take the jump and get that JR kit. :p
Then everything can go on at once! |
