His & Hers - My Asphalt FR-S and my GF's SWP BRZ
This build thread will be for 2 cars - mine, and my girlfriends - @jLoBRZ cars.
I've had a 2013 Asphalt FR-S since about august. jlobrz was driving a silver 04 MT RX8. Ironically, many years ago we were both driving RX8s at the same high school, but we didn't know each other (other than "THE OTHER RX8"). jlobrz recently purchased a SWP MT Limited BRZ, as it was the most logical next step from an RX8. The poor rx8 was on its last leg, only on 90k miles. Anyways, I felt the need to go ahead and start a build thread for both of us, since some of you may enjoy our unique car situation. Still working on how I'm going to lay out the thread, so bear with me I DD a 2008 black FJ Cruiser, and mainly drive my FR-S on the weekends / errand running. Here's a quick pic Here's some pics of both of our cars together A shot near the 360 bridge (does it even have a name??) from today Some additional shots from today. Let's get down to the builds themselves TREVOROVERT BUILD Mods, in order of installation - pics below
Journal 2014-01-20 @jLoBRZ Just got her car this weekend, so we went out and got some shots of our cars together. I'll document what I've done to the car since August in this first post, and the continue to document on a by-mod basis. I've done several things since I got the car, so you'll see some of those in the pics below. I most recently picked up an open flash tablet from @shiv@vishnu and must say- I'm really seeing a noticeable difference. Can't wait to get my OFH, which will hopefully come in sometime next month. Luckily in Austin, we've got a great shop called DIY Texas that allows you to rent lifts, so I'll probably take it over there and maybe knock out some other stuff while I'm under the car. 2014-01-22 After doing some analysis, the OTS OFT stage 1 map wasn't working to well with my takeda intake. Long term fuel trim was averaging ~20% and I was running a bit rich. I still had the stock intake lying around, so I figure I'd throw that back in there and order a new K&N drop in filter. I modified the snorkel, cut off the end of it like others have done, and removed one of the resonators in the front. Also upgraded to shiv's 1.53b tune Original, 1.42 log Modified intake, stock filter 1.53 log fuel trim, afr much better 2014-02-20 I have several things coming in the next few days. Sard seat covers come in tomorrow. I decided to remove the seats entirely ( not really necessary AFAIK ) and ran into the dreaded reverse torx bolts. Wow, these are AWFUL. I stripped 3 of the 8 of them with very little pull. Decided to try and follow what someone else said to drill a small hole, use a punch and a hammer to start knocking it out. Didn't work out too hot for me. Ended up trying to drill out the entire bolt. I finally got the head of the bolt separated from the bolt itself to pull the seat out. The other two, I ordered a bolt extractor (5/16 ~~ 8mm) to remove the other 2. Replacing with M10x1.5 SS bolts all around. No reverse torx joke this time. OFH should come in next week. Plan to show some before and after videos, as well as a full install in this build. First jLoBRZ mod incoming this weekend as next weekend is her birthday. Yes, this is me admitting her present is something for her car. Not sure if she'll read this or not - but I plan on revealing it this weekend. I also added leather wrapping the dash pieces to my future list.. got some synthetic leather vinyl coming in next weekend and going to see what I can do. 2014-02-20 Installed OFH. Video and pics below. The install was pretty simple, and it took about an hour and a half (on a lift). I would recommend having the following on hand - pb blaster, breaker bar, 7/8" O2 sensory remover socket from HF. I cross threaded the secondary O2 sensor, but it's still in their snug. Removed the heat shield on the O2 sensor because it was rattling. The car sounds good, but it is loud. I don't hear any rasp at all. At idle, it is quiet, and on cruise it is quiet. Sounds great when you give it some gas. This combined with the OFT has really gotten rid of the torque dip. Feels much more like my FJ now (which has the straightest torque line I've ever seen) 2014-05-04 A while since my last update. Built and installed a custom sub box out of MDF. Did a full retrofit on the Winjet headlights (See sig for install guide). The custom sub box was pretty straight forward; I've never built one before and it took me about a half a day. I have a coworker that is into woodworker so he helped me with most of the word working aspects. Designed in sketchup. It matches the 20 degree angle of the rear seat, and sits right behind the rear seat. The infinity amp sits atop the box between the two 8" subs. Sounds great, very happy with it all. Carpeting was a bit of a pain, took me a couple of times but in all it was a great experience. Maybe next time I will get into fiberglass, but I felt an MDF box would be best here. Check some pics below Interior with shift knob, head unit, etc J2 Engineering Catback. Had some issues with fitment, but overall love this budget exhaust. I highly recommend getting the torque solutions 12mm extra long hangers if you plan to go with this catback My TSW Nurburgrings 17x8 225 45 17 Continental Extreme Contacts. Love the tread pattern, surprisingly awesome grip, jury is still out on tread life.. Raceseng slammer shift knob + reverse lockout. Really love the feel of both the lockout and the shift knob, and makes the interior look quite a bit nicer OFH [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKx_yEStvXg"]FR-S BRZ OpenFlash UEL Catless Header - YouTube[/ame] Chrome Winjet painted + Retrofit Custom sub box with dual infinity 8" subs built and installed Sard racing seat covers

How do you like your OpenFlash tablet? I am looking to buy one and would love to get some opinions on it, as no one I have talked to yet has it
Oh, and the 360 bridge is named the "Pennybacker Bridge", btw lol |

I'm considering e85, but since I live over near pennybacker bridge, there really aren't any close e85 options. The openflash tablet will definitely be great for e85 and I may consider doing a couple of tanks just to see how it feels. Can't wait to get my openflash headers and hopefully..maybe.. rumored openflash SC with my tax return (crossing my fingers for OFSC to be rotrex). I'd probably go with an off the shelf tune with it, and maybe look into getting it professionally tuned later down the road.

Looks great! Let me know if youd like an extra pair of hands when you get the FR-S or the BRZ on the lift, I'm likely to do my manifold soon and some experience down there will be indispensable. I'd love to help y'all out if I'm available to help.
