Anyone want to sponsor the FT86 Stock Eliminator COPO Camaro Drag Racer?
So, I'm running 2 for 2 on what I like to call "Contests I Win Where I Get Nothing Free but Get To Spend My Own Money". Episode 1 was the First86 program that landed me here.
Episode 2 is represented below. Sadly, this time I'm going to have to pass but I can't believe I got this yesterday! I signed up really just to get more info on the car, but got selected as one of the 69. In the end, the COPO, configured like I would buy it, would cost me $173,130 broken down as: "All 2018 COPOs will come with standard 3-Speed TH-400 Automatic Transmission, Carbon Fiber Hood, Bogart Racing Wheels, External Battery Charger Hook-up and Wheelie Bars" 350 CID/SC (NHRA rated 580HP) and parachute, $117,250.00. Hot Wheels Edition (Crush Orange), $18,975.00 Racer's Package, $1,650.00 COPO Serial # 350CID, $35,255.00 It does come with "free" leather jacket though. Racer's Package includes a weight box, dual batteries, carbon fiber air intake and an intercooler quick change coupler. You could get a 427CID rated at NHRA/480HP, in a standard color and no serial# for $109,000. Base prices for the 302CID is #112,100 but hasn't been NHRA rated yet. For these models the Racer's Package is $2,100 and instead of an intercooler quick change coupler it includes the parachute. None if these come with a VIN as the car is not street legal. Sadly, the golden ticket is not transferable. I would have to buy the car then resale it to someone else that is interested. I suppose if I found someone that would front all the money, I could buy the car, then turn it over to them but I doubt I could come up with that in 24 hours (note time limit on offer). I did check with my local Chevy dealer whose owner/family also owns a dragstrip and owns cars they race, and sponsor others. They didn't have any interest in this one (they own an earlier COPO). I've already told MomHawk that in 10 years when I'm watching a 2018 COPO go across Barrett Jackson and sell for some outrageous amount to just turn off the TV and let me sulk.

There was a specific process you had to follow to be considered though. Basically contact information on a web site. At least I had a shot!

Think I could get two? Also need to add about 80% for fees and duties to bring it into Canada.

I'd be willing to store it for you to avoid that portion.

Well sadly the window of opportunity has passed and I will not be racing a COPO Camaro this season. Guess I'll have to start saving my pennies for next year.
