I've run the following combinations on mine:

-- Stock
-- Stock tires + TRD CAI w/sound tube plugged + trunk lid liner
-- Stock tires + TRD CAI + Perrin catback resonated + liner
-- Stock tires + TRD CAI + Perrin catback unresonated + liner
-- Potenza RE-11A's, TRD CAI + Perrin catback unresonated + liner
-- Michelin PSS's, stock intake/exhaust + liner
-- Michelin PSS's, TRD CAI + Perrin catback unresonated + liner

By far the loudest combination is the current config listed last. The PSS's are the loudest perceived part of the package. They rumble and roar over anything but freshly paved surfaces in the dry. Normal conversation is nearly impossible above 70 mph. Great dry and wet grip, ride quality and feedback, but I won't be doing anything longer than day trips in the car without ear protection.

Anyone running ZII's have noise comments?

Did you notice a big difference between the Perrin resonated and non-resonated CBE? Does the resonator change the overall volume, or only the tone?

OP should change the title to "I think my car is giving me tinnitus". Hard to blame the whole line after you mod your car.

Srsly...?

I've been partially deaf since birth. Had straight pipe turbo back exhaust on my srt-4 for 5 years and loud systems in all my cars for the 1st 5-6 years i was driving.
My hearing never got worse. And that srt-4 drowned out tractor trailers @ the resonant rpm.
Now i don't listen to my music as loud, or put super loud exhausts on my cars anymore, thats more for the fact that i live in taxachusetts and the cops LOVE giving out noise violation tickets.

If you think a measly 85db is too loud, you're too old.

Ear docs would disagree, but what do they know. You go ahead and carry on with what remains of your hearing.

No kidding, thats what they've been telling me my whole life.
Yet every time i get re-tested its the same. Hmmmmm

I'll trust my real life experience before some quack trying to sell me $5k+ hearing aids.
Oh and hearing aids... they suck butthole.
Only reason i was contemplating em was the built in bluetooth. Full time headphones and hands free.

You ARE a special snowflake! Do you have a newsletter? I would also like to forward it to a research audiologist at the VA.

I've noticed this too. With the windows up, the droning/rumbling is much louder. Windows down, no drone. I've contemplated adding sound deadening, but for now I live with it.

Yes, big difference mostly with the res having a lower tone and is a little louder than the unres but not objectionable except for ~30 sec. after cold start when it's running open loop then switches to quieter closed loop. At least I think that's what's happening, it's quieter after hot start.

I'm told the unres pipe is louder outside the car, maybe that's true of most aftermarket exhausts or a function of the Perrin 4" tips.

Neither pipe has droning anywhere in the rpm band.

Also, the unres is ~5 lbs. lighter. I definitely prefer it over the res pipe.

A nice feature of the Perrin system is that you can buy either pipe for about $300 (or my barely used resonated pipe for $200).

Interesting that you say the resonated has a lower tone and is a little louder than the non-resonated. I was thinking the non-resonated would be louder.

I've actually got the non-resonated version on my car right now and was going to switch to resonated for a bit less sound, but sounds like that might not be the case.

This is exactly why I don't get exhausts with drone and stay away from the big name brands. GReddy is infamous for drone. Plenty of quality exhausts out there.

Ah crap, I got it backwards. The resonated is the quieter one, pretty big difference. It's barely louder than the TRD exhaust but with better tone.

Ah got it. You scared me for a second bud! I'm pretty happy with my current non-resonated setup, but my super duper master plan is to throw a header on there and add the resonated midpipe. I'm hoping the resonated midpipe will absorb a lot of the extra sound from the header.

Thanks for the info!
