You aren't the only one, this is maybe my 4th manual car? And I still can't get the hang of it. What helped a little was lowering the clutch to be flush w/the gas pedal. I still have to slow everything down...

I'm not sure if this has been seen here, but here is the patent:

Essentially it's like putting a spring on the end of the slave cylinder; you are never going to get accurate feel out of the clutch as long as that damper is there.

I went through this with my 2006 Civic Si. Turns out 90% of the issues people were having with the transmission were eliminated by swapping the master cylinder with a damper-less one.

The 86's design is an integrated unit like the below. I'm wondering if the port leading to the damper could be drilled, tapped and plugged?
