Wanna trade paint? (Firestorm for Whiteout R/C body)

The not so great news is its Whiteout not Firestorm! I guess the odds caught up with me. Now along with ordering the 5Axis kit, taking off the mirrors, I have to paint my car! Man that sucks.... Seriously though. if there is someone with Red that wanted White I'm willing to swap bodies, PM me. I'm going to see if I can get Scion or the dealer to swap it for me. If not, I'll be buying some factory color Firestorm and Clearcoat I guess. Are these painted on the inside (again, which would suck)?

I'd love to know if we can get a decal/body shell replacement. Mine's gonna be pretty beat up. Gonna need new tires soon, hopefully my wheels show up this week.

Dadhawk,
I got mine today as well! Unfortunately mine is black, not white like my car. Maybe we can work a 3-way trade if someone else has red but wants black?!? |

I think the funnest part for me was having to angle my car to make it up my driveway, scraping a lil bit, this thing is low, and im keeping it that way

The Mystery of the R/C Gift
I thought, hey lets see if Scion will exchange it for me. I guess not. At least this Scion rep claims they didn't send them.
Here's the online conversation: Status: Connected Greg Shono (Listening) Greg Shono: Hi, my name is Greg Shono. How may I help you? DadHawk: Hi Greg. I'm one of the 1st86 that just received our remote controlled FR-S! Very nice. Only thing, the one I got is WhiteOut and my car is Firestorm. Any chance I can exchange it? Greg Shono: Who did you get your r/c car through? DadHawk: It came from Scion as part of the 1st86 program. It was delivered from Toyota Auto Sales I believe. (It was a freebie) Greg Shono: We never sent our R/C cars. Greg Shono: Sounds like that was a gift from your dealers. DadHawk: OK, well I think most of the 1st86 got one just delivered this week. Greg Shono: As mentioned, not all First 86 received an r/c car. Greg Shono: Some dealers did give special gifts for purchasing the vehicle through them. DadHawk: OK. Well thanks. Its a mystery because it didn't have any note in it, and the First 86 on the ft86club form received one across the nation. Guess I'll check with the dealer. Greg Shono: I can give you a link to the company where it was purchased through. DadHawk: thanks, that would help. By the way they also have official First 86 tags on the boxes. Greg Shono: http://www.optomizescion.com DadHawk: Thanks. Greg Shono: Your welcome. Greg Shono: Anything else I can assist you with? DadHawk: No I guess not. Have a good evening

Yea, it was shipped directly from the online vendor. Usually if Beyond Marketing did it the Scion Customer Service folks know about it. Doesn't look like they sell the bodies separately, if they did I'd just buy one. Oh well, maybe I'll try one of the Marketing company folks. I still have their contact information around somewhere.

with all the chaos regarding some cars with SL and/or CEL on after short amount of miles, has any first86'er got any problem? For some reason I think first86 cars had better quality control since the demand was still relatively low then. After they started ramping up production for the public, something had gone wrong, at least that's my guess anyway.
I have had my car since May but since it's a weekend car, I barely have 2k miles on it so I don't think I've cleared the "danger miles" yet. Anyone got close to 10k with no problems? |
