Catalyst Incomplete

Hey Guys,

Long time lurker here. So my FRS is nearly do for a smog check. I have all monitors but the catalyst completed (it's showing "incomplete"). I've driven about 3-4 days, 15 miles to work , and another 15 back. So I'm unsure how to go about this.

I've been reading about drive cycles and whatnot over the internet but haven't found anything specific about the 86 platform. Anyone have input or experiences?

Right now the car is SC and I'm using the CARB tune supplied by Edelbrock. Only engine modification would be my catback, and that's about it.

get on the highway and drive an hour for lunch some weekend, then drive back, taking the fun twisty backroads, and never letting the motor drop below 3k rpm.

you're in sacremento, meaning even the most mundane useless, complaint-worthy backroad is going to be better than most of the rest of us even have access to if we wanted!

Hop in the car and take a ride up to Placerville, grab a few bottles of Old or Ancient Vine Zinfandel from the Boger vineyard then roll home to drink it. That should give you enough miles to clear any incompletes and you'll have a few fresh bottles of the local goods to get you through the next few days.

I assume you are talking about readiness codes. Most states will pass you if you only have one unset. If it is a fault code it will have to be fixed. If it is a cat code you may half to get out on a highway and get it up to temperature.
Check with a testing station.

The drive pattern for the catalyst monitor is warm up the car to above 167F then drive 20 minutes or more, uninterrupted, above 50 mph, followed by one minute or more at idle.

just imagine how your car feels, never really getting used, just going to work every day...
