Lets please let Paul do what he's gonna do. We can't compare anything yet because they haven't gotten to results. Please allow him to post as he will and ask questions. We'll compare later down the road! This is his build thread and he doesn't need heckled.

I feel bad for you guys developing parts. Every thread I go into nowadays has numerous trolls going through trying to determine why that part is not feasible.

You develop a thick skin for posting, or you give up fairly soon. I'm not worried about the questions - this isn't, as they say, our first rodeo. We've been building these kits for about 3 decades now.

I think it's ok to say entry level, it doesn't necessarily mean bad quality. The iPhone 3GS is entry level. It's not bad quality; it just has limited features and expandability options.

I, for one, hope AVO develops a kit for the new 2.0 Impreza (FB20). We just bought one for my wife and it could use a nice, reliable kick in the pants.

It looks like it can sorta pass as stock which is a godsend for us over here who have to smog frequently and where the CHP is cracking down on illegal parts.

Stock airbox utilization is brilliant and gets us halfway there to passing without removing the kit.
california isnt allowed to have after market turbos?

Not unless it's CARB approved. I'll give you a guess on how many kits out there have that approval.

California Air Resource Board

Even if you can pass the sniffer no problem, if they see any aftermarket part that can impact emissions that has no CARB approval you'll fail smog.

Depending on who you talk to, anything that isn't electric or runs on unicorn farts isn't efficient enough.

I think there's a certain assumption that because we are not going to charge 6-8k, it's going to be some cheapo kit. That's certainly not the case - it's just that there's several factors here, such as economy of scale. We are not planning on selling 5-10 kits a year, we are instead planning to make most of the parts on our factory lines in larger amounts. This brings costs down quite a bit. We are not picking wire-reinforced silicone for the piping because it's cheap - it's not, when you are getting it moulded to specific shapes - we are doing it because it works best for this application. Wire reinforced silicone is *tough*, you could stand on it.

We won't be going for ultimate horsepower, either. While we could, it's not in our planning for this kit. What we want to see, and what we aim for with the main kit, is similar to our other kits - boost from 1500rpm with a very strong mid-range. With reliability.

I also don't have any desire to get into any arguments over who's got a better kit. It's like saying what's better, italian or mexican food. At the end of the day, people are simply gonna have their own preference regardless of what is claimed about either.
