Definately would be nice to have a diesel powered Suby stateside... Especially since 87 octane is now 30 cents MORE than diesel at the stations near me. (100% gas though, E-10 is still about 30 cents cheaper than diesel)

Subaru 3.0 Flat 6 (N/A VVL and AVCS) vs Porsche 3.2 Flat 6 (N/A VarioCam Plus)

vs

Subaru 2.5 Flat 4 (N/A AVCS) vs Porsche 2.5 Flat 4 (N/A VarioCam Plus)

vs

Subaru 2.5 VVL Turbo vs Porsche 2.5 Flat 4 VarioCam Turbo

Id love to see a performance number comparison of the engines in IRL.

From expirence of having a 475 awdhp STI and have had the pleasure of driving a 800awdhp Sti . I can tell you that the 2.5 boxer motor is very capable .

Id love to see a performance number comparison of the engines in IRL.

EZ30D runs 245hp/219tq vs Porsche Boxer 3.2L VarioCam Plus runs 280hp (VarioCam only rums 252hp)

FYI EJ25 don't run AVCS, only EJ204 NA DOHC AVCS runs 190hp. While Porsche haven't ran Flat-4 for long time (since 70's).

As for Turbo, 22B STi is still hands down powerful H4 engine Subie have made. 2.2L 350hp/267tq

Next closest ones are S series (S201~S204)... but they're 2L w 315hp.

Well the EJ257 ran AVCS .....but the EJ253 ran VVL....sorry got them mixed up. I just want to see the performance numbers between Subaru's current engines and Porsche's engines more specifically their new 2.5L flat 4.

I can gather all the data and such on the web just like anyone else, but to see it first hand IRL in a side by side comparison is something id love to see.

When comparing German to Japanese engines, you have to look at mindset. Crunching numbers give you a means of comparison but not the capability of the engine. How Porsche and BMW think and design an engine is different to how Subaru and Toyota would do it. What I'm saying is, you have to look at the final product, not its parts.

In the local racing clubs there's a very well sponsored team that fields 2 STIs, both with EJ25 engines, one in GT2 with 400hp and the other is a 700hp GT1 monster and apparently the engine will last over a season of racing before it needs a rebuild.

You're talking rebuilt engines, not out of the box.
