Price based on perspective
From a couple of stuff that I have seen consistently, I have a feeling and can say with some confidence, that the FR-S will be cheaper than the Genesis Coupe. Dutch pricing says Hyundai Genesis Coupe - 2.0 turbo 230hp starts at 42.000 euros and the GT-86 is gunna cost about 40.000 euros. In Portugal, Auto Foco Spots Cars Magazine says Genesis coupe is 40.990 euros and the GT-86 will be between 33.000-37.000 euros. I have a feeling that the FR-S should most likely be between $20,000-$22,000 in the US.
What do you guys think? Subaru Impreza WRX 5 door: USA: $25595 Canada: $33400 - 33% Scion TC: USA: $19300 Canada: $20850 - 8% Markup Genesis Coupe 2.0T: USA: $22250 Canada: $24899 (Plus $2500 cash rebate) - Equal when paying cash. Mazda Miata Base: USA: $23200 Canada: $29000 - 25% markup Ford Mustang V6 Base: USA: $22310 Canada: $22249 - V6 is cheap here but the V8 costs $9000 more! Toyota Camry: USA: $20195 Canada: $23700 - 16% markup Lexus IS 250: USA: $33595 Canada: $33895 - 1% markup! Honda Civic SI: USA: $22405 Canada: $26000 - 17% markup BMW 128I: USA: $31050 Canada: $36000 - 16% markup Audi A4: USA: $32500 Canada: $37800 - 15% markup Porsche 911: USA: $82100 Canada: $93700 - 15% markup Infiniti G37 Coupe: USA: $37600 Canada: $46700 - 25% markup Nissan 370z: USA: $31500 Canada: $41000 - 30% markup price list posted by pastuch Last edited by randytindoggy; 01-18-2012 at 06:29 PM. |

I think we have like 20 threads about price and that you could of easily shared your opinion in one of them instead of making another.
I also think that the numbers you have are on the lower end of the scale. 23K is what I see it being in the US.

$23k bro...no way it will be lower than that.
Even if the Genesis coupe is $22.5K that is the lowest stripped down version with no LSD, and has less options than a FR-S. The comparable GC 2.0 coupe to a FR-S would be closer to $24.5K 2.0T R-Spec. No way is the FR-S going to be $20k that is too close to the $19.3K tC! |

Hey Guys! New Forum Poster here. Just signed up today.
For what its worth, I just ordered my Scion FR-S yesterday from my local Toyota dealer here in Canada. I pressured the dealer a bit to tell me what the price would be and their not 100% sure. I told them, the biggest factor in me buying this car is the price. So my order is in the system "subject to final price". But their guess so far is 28,000. This might just be the Canadian price but then again, the dollar is almost on par with the US dollar. The prices should be close. So from what I'm expecting 28K! bneale |

It always depends on what you expect from a car... As you drive a miata I think I can tell you: Yes, it is!

LOLOL! well from what i see from the prices of all the scions cars they are at least a grand or 2 apart. should it be 23-24k thats pretty pricy for a scion. though all scions accessories are standard, it shouldnt be that expensive right?

Co2 emmisions of Hyundai Genesis Coupe (220g for turbo version) rise it's price. Toyota should be at around 160g. That's a good number. If the price will be 40.000 eur....well that's a Nissan 370z, Audi TT territory. There's no way Toyota will be as equiped or as 'fancy' as those 2 cars. Toyota will be in 'hot hatch' territory (up to 30.000 EUR). It will basically be a Renault Clio Sport (20.000 eur, 2.0 NA, nice handling, not a lot of options, and toyota will have less co2) with RWD -- but don't underestimate Renault on handling!! I think we can't compare it to Golf GTI (because it's a lot more equipped car) and Golf GTI is 27.000 EUR and it's a turbo (so therefore more expensive). If we compare it to Renault Megane Sport (27.000 EUR) which is a beast with 250+ HP and it's still a turbo. So I'd slot Toyota between Clio and Megane at 23.000 EUR or it won't sell. At least not in Europe. |
