Honestly though because of my work schedule which changes all the time, I won't exactly be able to "drive the kids around" all the time. She's going to have to wake up and realize that she also will need to drive in the future and have some sort of vehicle.

She also should remember that I've been planning on getting into Autocrossing and racing for a long time. It's a passion I've had for many years. I'm not giving up my dreams now just because she "wants me to drive the kids around" in the future. It's not gonna happen. Not since I'm so close to finally buying the car I really want to drive everyday.

Sorry for jacking the thread. I'll shut up about my life now.

I believe nowadays it is required to have the LATCH system in the back seats, that is, a metal hook or some sort that allows you to hook the child seat at the back. Just based on my experience with rear facing seat, you can fit the base alright. But when you place the seat, and because it is rear facing, it requires a large space towards the front. With this small cabin of FR-S, you can do it if you move the front passenger seat forward for the child seat. Then your significant other needs to decide whether to seat behind you or the front passenger seat.

It is possible, but may not be elegant. It is just a choice.

This is a big concern for me, as I expect I will have a young child in the next five years. I addressed this with my wife, and she said "That's fine, we'll be able to fit a rear facing car seat in my car"*.

Huzzah!

*Said discussion requires for her to drive my car, and thus I have to get an auto.

I refused to get an auto for my car because I want to have fun. So instead she gets her own car... Wait, she got her car before me...

Teach her to drive a manual. Every licensed driver should know how.

are hyundai's actually good cars these days? are they reliable like a honda or toyota? in the past hyundai's seemed to fall apart FAST.

Why buy the clone when you can get the original for the same price?
I'd agree. The only thing in the back of my mind when buying a used car is : "has the previous owner beat the shit out of this?" IMO, if you're looking for a family car, go get a family car. I'm not saying more about families, this thread is already way far off topic.

I'm just hoping for ~25k Cnd base price with the possibilty to have few options (seeing it's a Scion, and they're motto is next to no options) like push button + keyless entry and superior HVAC. Don't get me wrong though, I'm used to a key and you won't see me bitch and moan if they don't have the option for that. Same goes for climate control.
