Actually, I've been putting it off for a while. Softener went out about a year and a half ago. I just R&R with same unit. At least now I have soft water to wash the cars. I have both hard and soft water bibs in the front of the house.


The thumb thing was just one of those things. My hand slipped carrying down the steps it into the garage and hit the head unit. The thing weighs about 110 lbs and is an awkward shape.


Maybe now my toilet in the hall bath will stop making that funny sound.

Why did it get upstairs? Is your garage not on ground level? Is the water softener not in the garage? Was it delivered to the upstairs level, from the delivery truck that was on the ground/garage level? So many questions -

I brought it in the house (front door) when delivered. It is only a couple steps down to ground level, and I should have done it one step at a time, but I grabbed it and tried to go all the way, across the porch and down, in one shot. failed. I hit a part of the head unit just right with my thumb. Freak thing.

Now listen up, since you have reached the age of 55, pay attention to what you are about to try to do. The old days of getting "stuck" and just giving out with a grunt to "make it go" are gone. Oh, you can give out with a grunt and even a AGGGHHH, but it ain't gonna budge -

I lost it at the random wheel/tire in the empty spot.

Edit: Asked my boss if we may start narrating analysis the same way. He said no.

"Ran this mf'r here, that downloaded that mf'r into that mf'r, which changed this mf'ing system property, I don't know where that f'ing schedule task came from, then hibernated for 45 minutes before downloading this mf'r."
