I hit quote on the wrong post. Probably a good thing. I'm not very forum savvy. And I called no one an asshole, just said come off as. Maybe he wasn't being a smartass, but I doubt it.

I searched the Perrin website and it looks like the Shifter Stop fits the WRX, but not our cars - how did you get it to work?

For twins from Perrin there was transmission mount & bushing, not "shifter stop". Those together create imho similar feel (at cost of some NVH increase reduce play/slop, enhance shifting feel)

@gpvecchi I think the shift-stop will work with an STi mount. They're two separate parts bolting to different things. I'm planning to switch to an STi mount in a coming upgrade.

2nd day of driving with the whiteline mount, I'm becoming iffy on whether or not it's right for me. When its cold it really is noticeably harsher, but upshifts and 1st gear starts are so much better.

I am hoping the STi mount will be a bit more compliant, I'm going to try that next.

Just to understand, the Perrin tranny things just limits left/right/front/back movement as the insert is more precise in rubber hole, at the cost of whining in low gears, right?
It's the Whiteline insert that limits up/down movement.
So the STi mount, using more and harder rubber should make the same thing of both, but without being so extreme...

@gpvecchi I am not having much of a problem with whining gears. It's more engine vibration being transferred into the cabin.

The whiteline insert is a bit too stiff for me. I placed an order for an STi mount, but then found out it would be stiffer than the whiteline solution, so cancelled that order; now have ordered a new OEM transmission mount to swap in. I think having a new stock mount should be as compliant and sporty as I need right now.

The Perrin rear stop shift is great, I am enjoying it.

Anybody know where I might put some dynamat down to cancel out some of this extra vibration?

What is the basis for that conclusion?

@gtengr

Subispeed.com customer service told me the JDM STi transmission mount would be stiffer than the whiteline bushing + OEM transmission mount.

Yeah, I’ve read that STi bushings are very stiff. I always thought it was like adding ///M parts to a 3 series, but STi rubber is even stiffer than that.

Interesting. I was tempted to try the whiteline insert before going sti but I have a general dislike for poly and wanted to avoid buying/doing the work twice. I'll have to give an insert for the trans bushing more consideration next time.

I’m actually a fan of the increased vibration and noise. It isn’t loud and is like a super mild dog gear box sound, plus, I love the extra vibration and feedback.

This basically echoes my thoughts, although I freely admit most wont share my opinion. My car is a no-compromise warm weather toy and the direct feeling I get from spherical joints, engine and transmission mounts. and bushings throughout the car really makes the car feel unlike any other sports car I’ve ever owned. This car is telepathic in ways my old Porsches and BMW M cars never were, and some of them were pretty heavily modified. For what I do with the car, I absolutely love it.
