Next Gen Boxer Engine 4U-GSE

Quote:
U
The 0.7 L (697 cc) Aircooled Flat-Twin U Producing 28hp was produced from 1961 through 1966, and was found in the Toyota Publica

2U
The 0.8 L (790 cc) Flat-Twin 2U twin Carb 45hp, was produced from 1965 through 1969. and was found in the Toyota Sport 800, also known as Yota-Hachi (Toyota8).

2U-B
Same as the 790cc 2U, produced from 1966 through 1976, the output for the B was bumped up 49 hp (37 kW) at 5400 RPM.

4U-GSE
Appearing in the Toyota 86 (also known as the Toyota GT86 in Europe, Scion FRS in the USA and Subaru BRZ), the 4U-GSE is a boxer type engine with 4 cylinders and a bore and stroke of 86mmx86mm. It features direct and port injection systems D4-S, with a maximum power rating of 200HP (147kW) at 7,000RPM and a maximum torque rating of 151 lb.-ft (205 N-m) at 6,600RPM.

Potential Models

4U-GZSE
A potential future candidate to a high performance model 4U, featuring a TRD supercharger to bump up Torque which lacks some in the GSE.

I made this up from Wiki information, but does Subaru Feel and respond to this? The engine was built by FHI Subaru however it takes a Toyota Engine code, Rather Subaru engine code which we have been using previously as FA20.

I think that along with the nameplate neutral 'AS1' designation, we should refer to the engine as the F-U.

It is reasonably common practice for a co-developed engine to be referred to by different designations by the companies involved. Nissan and Renault for instance do this quite a lot.

it should be but its not..the 2GR-FSE is also D4S Supercharged in some cars.

FE is the current TRD supercharged Designation
SE is the D4S Designation

They havent use Z for quite some time

Tradition-wise, G is performance, F is fuel economy, Z is supercharged, T is turbocharged, S is direct injection, E is electronic injection.

2GRFE under your nomenclature would imply that the V6 Camry is supercharged...

Edit: the lack of the Z designation has to do with a lot of the supercharged Toyota motors have been post-factory, TRD install on a standard FE motor for example. Motor was not designed with supercharging in mind.

Are you trying to apply Toyota engine designations to a Subaru motor?

No that is the engine code. At least per Toyota. Not sure if Subaru will keep FA20 (would assume so).

Oh this is for the people that are still in denial that this car is a Subaru?

It would be more efficient to say FA20
