I don't know if you guys have noticed, but everything for our cars are vrek expensive. Even the aftermarket parts.
I compared prices of a few items for our cars vs a scooby WRX STi.
exhausts, coilovers, intakes, etc are double the price for the 86/brz compared to a scooby WRX STi

Luckily they share some parts so things such as brake pads and possibly disks should be cheaper if you buy Impreza items.

Toyota brakes have always been horrifically expensive and the old story is that they are only rebranded Ferodo...

BRZ

Hi guys!

Anyone got a BRZ yet? Mine is due 'soon' and it will be interesting to see what Subaru dealers say re running in. Manual for BRZ (downloaded) gives the 4000rpm story...

I've always run cars in to bed everything down (not just engine) and have always had good performance thereafter, I believe...

Well, as with everything else it's always good to shop around. Leon Duigan from Powerbrake would definitely be able to sort us out.

Also Starbrake - they're quite sharp.

Yep, I've used them before - VERY cheap. As far as performance pads goes, they only sell EBC if I'm not mistaken?

That's right EBC is their main brand. Had Green Stuff on my Corolla, with drilled and grooved Deselra discs... Wow is all I can say for the price I paid compared to OE. They can also do Brembo etc. if you have the money!

Cool, yep I've used EBC on some cars and bikes before. Not bad at all but they didn't last very long.

I'll have a chat with Powerbrake when the time comes. Leon REALLY knows his stuff, he used to own Duigan Brothers which did a lot of Ford performance parts and upgrades.

@sav - In your opinion do you think that the stock Toyota 86 brakes could have been better? While they work nicely on the limit and are beautifully modulated, I find they sometimes need quite a kick to stop in normal driving. I like to touch the pedal early and ease to a stop. A habit you get from driving a car with 4-wheel drums...

I reckon they're pretty good - you don't want over assisted brakes on a car like this. They've got good feel and they're easy to regulate. They just need a bit of getting used to.

With lots of new cars you hardly touch the brakes then end up with your eyeballs trying to pop out of your head. Basically either on or off, nothing in between.

Audi or VW in my experience! I reckon pads will make a difference as well.

I've had to warn people test driving the VW GTI I'm selling to get my BRZ to brake (and accelerate) carefully - the BRZ brakes felt strange in the test drive and will take some getting used to... Hopefully I won't need to upgrade more than pads....

However, i really love the linear, instantaneous throttle response of the BRZ vs the turbo lag of GTI...
