Maple syrup has been around longer than any reliable recorded history, and thus it is hard to accurately detail the exact origins. Regardless there are a few satisfactory theories that may shed light on its development.
It is known that Maple syrup was being collected in different manners by many pre-Columbian indigenous peoples of North America, before being refined by the Europeans into a closer resemblance of the syrup we know today.
The Algonquin's would extract the sap and condense it down to its basic sugars for storage whilst simultaneously using the liquid as a cooking substitute for water. It is common knowledge that the Ancient Native American palette was much sweeter than their salty European counterparts.
As far as initial origins goes, as with most edibles derived from nature, it is quite possible that the practice was picked up after watching wildlife ingest the sap from specific trees.

My mistake. His name was Segenam Etchemin, which translates to, "Lazy Canoe Man." He was born in 1493 to Keme Machk (Thunder Bear) and was known around his community as a worthless child who would rather watch squirrels all day than help in the local charity drives. Lucky for him, he stumbled upon a group of critters licking a maple tree, and became an overnight sensation.

What an interesting morning drive home has it been! A bus driver got impatient while waiting behind me for a red light to turn green. So he got out of the bus, knocked on my window, and started to yell at me. I just gave him this tired, blank stare, which pissed him off even more. He proceeded to inch the bus closer to my bumper. If he hit my car, I would've called his bosses, including the police, and no more bus driving for him.

Apart from that, I saw a very nice NSX and this. I was just flabbergasted at what pulled up to my left. Thought my tired brain was playing tricks on me until it pulled away and I saw the rear end.

Also not looking forward to going back to work. Luckily, its slow at night so its not too bad at all.

In most departments there's technically no "quotas" BUT you do have performance appraisals and number of traffic stops/tickets written are part of that.

Now that makes me want to be Asian. My ancestors mostly came from Scandanavia; when I get out in the Texas sun, even at moderate temps (say, 85 degrees or higher) I break out in profuse sweating within minutes. This is a real problem when trying to work on my car, since the sweat makes a beeline from my forehead to my eyes.
