I'd send the caliper saddles and calipers to get powdercoated. They look better than all the auto parts store kits and tend to hold up better to fluid exchanges.

Covers on calipers designed to be covered are fine. Covers on calipers designed to be open can create al sorts of issues. They hold heat, gather debris and brake dust can gather and turn into a form of concrete when it gets wet. Probably not the best situation when you are talking about the things that stop your car. Not to criticize your old age and wisdom, but my experience differs.

Tracking and daily driving for the last 5 years or so WITH metal bolt on covers (stock calipers) - tests show heat dissipation (minor), not retention.

I winter drove this year, and still NO gathered debris .

As for brake dust, that is the primary reason I use them, as my carbotec pads leave a thick dirty black grease over the wheel almost immediately after use, but the caliper covers slow the process to cleaning wheels every few days rather than every day.

And yeah, I get the finger point and "rice" from the inexperienced. I'll take that rather than constantly cleaning that black paste on the outside of the wheels.

Or you can not be a jackass and don't put brakes for a different car on a twin. I'm not attacking you or anything, just see that as the general message form the video. It's also something a lot of people do just because they think bigger is better. WRX/STi brakes, 300zx, or whatever does not work on our cars. Just because it fits does not mean it sits.

Clearly an "experiences my vary" situation. I had some on my Talon for about 3 months and they were a nightmare.
