Satin White BRZ STi TRD 6AT Ltd - thermobox

Hello Ladies and Gentleman,

I thought it was about time that I started one of these being a new BRZ owner.

I'm prolly one of the least tech savvy guys on this forum. So TTIWWOP is gonna be the theme for a while in this thread until I get them taken and uploaded.

My story started a little bit different than most. I was actually geared towards a new 2012-13 Outback 3.6R Ltd. But through selling all the cars here for my store, going to the BRZ ride and drive and being around the cars I really fell in love with it.

After the ride and drive in New Orleans I promptly came back and ordered my car.

My Factory Order was ultra strange from start to finish. When I placed the order in the end of May it instantly displayed an ETA of Month of August. WTF? Why is my car coming in August? My customers car that was basically the exact same specs is still showing "WAIT LIST". Ok, weird.

So then the ETA goes to December. Ok, this is more with what I was expecting.

So then the ETA goes to 7/2 and has a VIN. WTF?

The car was delivered 6/28.

The car got here before my parts, wheels, etc that I had already had on order.

My cars specs from Subaru:
2013 Subaru BRZ Auto Limited in Satin White Pearl
Option Package 01 - Standard Model
Accessories Include:
Auto Dim Mirror w/ Compass & Homelink
Fuel Door Cover - I know it's tacky. But I wanted to give it a crack and see how I like it. If it doesn't work I can always peel it off.
Rear Under Spoiler

My mods as of yet:
First Day - Debadged rear deck lid
Second Day - Swapped Stock wheels for Impreza Sport Wheels
Third Day - JDM STi Key Cover in Black
7/1 -
JDM Bumper Cover - To match the Fuel Door
JDM Clear Sidemarker
JDM Exhaust Cutter Kit
Prodrive GC-05's in 18x8
Recently installed:
JDM STi Push Button Starter for BRZ
JDM SAA Blue Manifold Cover
SYMS Master Cylinder Sock
JDM TRD Door Catch Stiffener
Soon to be installed:
Splash Guards? Was trying to use the OE Scion part but it doesn't seem to cover the new tires full width. Will be test fitting some different solutions.

More to follow.

First Day. Impreza Sport Wheels and debadged.

Yes, we agree that it is tacky. I am going to be adding the Bumper Cover to tie it in. It's not that bad in person and I've gotten several compliments on it.

Mehbeh make this one cherry blossom red?

Sport wheels look so money on the car. They have a bit narrower and taller tire. Not quite right, but it looks good for now.

Happy Presents from Japan!!

I started with the Side Markers.

I decided to keep the OE style amber bulb that came with the kit. I will be using the chrome bulbs for the blinkers.

They look so much better than the amber!

Puny USDM exhaust cutter. Meh.

Godzilla exhaust cutter kit.

Virgin bumper cleaned and ready.

JDM Bumper Cover that totally ties in the tacky Fuel Door Cover.

What's that behind the bubble wrap? Hmmm.

Yummy Prodrive goodness fresh from Asia.

The correct harness connector on the left the wrong one on the right. Expensive mistake.

Installed.

Prodrives on the car. No TPMS though. Kinda sucked. I had to order the parts and try the install only to find out they don't fit the rim. Meh. 18X8 +46 225/40 18 Pirelli's

The happiest numbers ever!

Boring engine bay.

A bit o color.

More to come here..

First TRD Part.

This part is spring loaded. This is normal position.

It slides to expose the holes for install.

This piece slides onto the supplied bracket that installs with existing screws. These screws install at about 4 lb ft.

Voila! Installed. These screws install at about 16.5 lb ft. The supplied screws are a Torx 30.

Did you notice any difference in cornering or handling after installing the TRD door stabilizers?

Nope. Prolly won't. It definately makes a more solid "thud" when the door shuts. I just figure if TRD or STi notices a part that can be improved upon, it makes sense for me.

I kinda wish that our doors had the same kind of double catch that the new Suby's have on the rear doors.

Lost track of when the next round of mods started but they are as follows:
JDM STi Strut Tower Bar
JDM STi Battery Tie Down
JDM STi Shift Knob
JDM STi full kit - Lip/Skirt, Sides, Gurney Flap and Spats
JDM Under Panels
JDM Toyota Rain Guards
JDM Toyota Knee Pads and Speaker Surrounds
JDM FHi Four Pots in Black w/ DBA Rotors, Hawk Pads and Stoptech Stainless Lines
Chrome Signal Bulbs Front and Rear
Greddy Oil Plug
FilterMag

On to rainy day pics -

Pro pics will prolly be next month if everything else goes as planned. I was going to install some of the "universal" fit hood struts but was pretty grossed out by the lack of thought that went into the mounting hardware. I've got some Syms Dampers on order.

Very nice.

What are your impressions of the STI tower bar and shift knob?

I haven't really had the chance to spread the legs with the Strut Bar on yet. In everyday driving I don't notice much of a difference. I was kinda on the fence about this one. I had sorta the same mindset of @switchlanez but I went with the STi vs TRD due to the balljoint in the middle. I want to have bit more stiffness but not as much as the TRD bar offers.

The Shift Knob is just bling since I have the 6AT. I did notice that it is substantially heavier. I didn't actually weigh the stock one against it, prolly should. I do like the "feel" of it more than the stock one. This is another one of those pieces that I think the car should have come with stock.

We might get some sun today. If so, I'll try and snap some body shots of the kit.
