2017 BRZ Manual Crusing RPM

Hi all!

I'm just wondering what the cruisng rpm of the refreshed manual BRZ's is at highway speed in 6th gear. (60,70,80 mph)

I know the diff has been made to gear the car shorter - was the 6th gear made taller to compensate?

For reference 70 mph is ~ 4000 rpm in a NB miata

Thanks!

Don't remind me, long distance trips were.... painful. Interested in the response here, especially since the 17's had a different diff.

Depends what speed. I don't know exactly, but I'd say around 65-70mph I cruise around 2500rpm and if I'm going 75-80mph then 3000-3500rpm.

Yeah, this sounds more accurate when around 70mph. Pretty reasonable range, though.

Sounds right. I don't remember exactly, but this was a concern before I bought mine as well. The speed limit in my area is often 70mph, which means people are going about 75-80. It cruises just about as good as my old 5 speed manual 07 Scion tC, but of course this car is 6 speed with a higher redline. Somehow my 17 BRZ also manages to get better fuel mileage than my old tC did, especially cruising on the highway at 65-70.

As long as the noise is tolerable I am happy. After trips in the NB everything else feels like a Bentley

Amen! People think I'm joking when I say things like electric windows and remote locking is a luxury.

That's not bad. The old gearing hits 91mph at 4k RPM IIRC. Also, cruise control has a max set of 4k RPM. I'm assuming that's still the case with the 17s?

I haven't tested that, but I will on my way home

80MPH indicated is just below 4,000 RPM om my '17 manual transmission Performance Pack car. Noise is not an issue for me at that speed/RPM. On flat ground with the CC set to 80 the car thinks it's getting 32-36MPG.

That's a good climb then, cuz on my 2015 at 86 mile it sits at like 3700?

Will confirm later today.

You can't set a cruise speed above 4k rpm, but you can set it below 4k and use the stalk to raise the speed.
