Seeking Opinions: 17x9.5 +40 and 245/40/17

I'd like to pick your brains about the following wheel and tire sizes.

17x9.5 +40 with 245/40/17 on all four corners.

Now, I've seen some reports on people running 18x9.5 +40 and 245 square without any real issues, but I have yet to see any inner and outer clearance photos of such setup. Does anyone have any idea how the mentioned sizes will work on our cars with about -2.5 to -3.0 of camber in the front with about 1.5 inches of drop? I am about 80% certain that this setup will work without a problem, but I just want to eliminate that 20% of uncertainty as much as possible.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I am running 18x9.5+38 with 245/35 square with -2.0 camber in the front. No rubbing problems and minimal poke (almost flush). Your proposed set up should be AOK.

Thank you, @Metabrz. Do you know how much inner clearance you have with your current setup? Also, how much are you lowered with your Cusco ST Zero A?

with the stock wheels, you've got about 20mm of clearance on the inside on the front and about 50mm in the back with stock suspension. Are you more concerned with running a 9.5" width wheel or a 245 tire? The 245 is a better fit for a 9" width.

I'm more worried about the wheel hitting the strut than anything. And yes, you're right about 245 being better fit on 9" width, but the wheel I'm getting limits me from getting them in 17x9". 255 would work better if they won't rub..., but I'm gonna go with 245 first to ensure there is enough clearance first. I seriously doubt I'll want to pull my fenders nor quarter panels. But thanks for the clearance measurement. That actually helped quite a bit.

Yes, I've been utilizing that thread, and it's been in my bookmark for over 4 months.

What I want to see is someone with 17x9.5 with pretty much any offset (preferably close to +40) to post up a photo showing me the inner clearance...

According to my calculation, with 17x9.5 +40, I'll have 24mm less for inner clearance... I know you said it was 20mm of clearance with stock wheels and suspensions...

I've seen the OEM shocks and they seem to have very "bulky" springs. With "slimmer" aftermarket setup, do you think it'll come pretty close to hit each other?
