Doing the bills this morning. My electric bill is cut in half now with my new hvac. I figure the system will pay for itself in 12 years at current rates.

So, the other day I finally signed up for an online savings account to get that sweet, sweet high APY, but it didn't exactly go as planned. Because I couldn't settle (despite mountains of research that made it seem safe) I went with Capital One since I have their credit card. Apparently they recently went from their 360 Money Market to a straight up savings account. The main difference being, you no longer need a $10k balance to earn the 1.90% APY. Not sure when they did that, but it was recent.

Either way, I sign up and the thing offers to let me fund it using a routing number and bank account, normal stuff. I'm lazy, so I declined funding it then and there (you have 60 days to fund a new account) so I could just pull up the app, which has my banking saved for payments. Except... You can't transfer funds from an outside account, apparently. It looks like I have two choices, taking pictures of a check for a digital deposit, or transferring funds from their 360 Checking account, which I don't have.

Why aren't these things ever simple?

Can you do an ACH deposit? Like e-pay style?

I have some, but they're like 10 years old. Apparently as long as the account is the same they never expire, so I guess I'll just have to dredge them up out of my drawer.

Nope, not that I saw. There are two options, "Transfer" which only brings up your Capital One accounts, and digital check, where you have to take a picture of a check.

Only a few years ago, at my last job, we had a digital fax program. It was actually really simply. You would type in the fax number and send it from your computer and if anyone faxed you it would just show up in your email. Used it all the time.
