Thumbs down Cracked Rim

Wells i just wanted to share this with you guys

I was on my way to Los Angeles to meet up with some friends, and as i cruised down the 60 state highway i noticed a huge object that looked like a massive rock or something similar. i tried avoiding it by moving left, but a car honked its horn and ended up hitting it with my front right tire. my car literally flew off the ground and as soon as i tried getting off the highway the car aggressively limped to the right of the road

It sucks that the rim cracked, but the hit was not soft at all and im really thankful that none of the drive train, bumper and engine got damaged.

Ps: another sad thing is that a few frs owners passed by me like it was nothing ! where is the love ?

Look at the pic again...that wheel is done

OP: You might want to get your alignment checked out. An impact like that is bound to do something.

You're gonna have some bent stuff in the suspension to bud. The car is built light, if the wheel cracked I'd be 90% sure you damaged the strut and maybe some other stuff.

You may want to contact your insurance company - this may be covered by the DOT.

Good point. In CA, if your vehicle is damaged while using the freeway (due to a pothole, raised expansion joint, etc.) you can file a claim with Caltrans and they will reimburse you for the damages. Here is the form:

Form LD0274

Does that cover random debris in the road?

It's worth a shot..it is their duty (along with the CHP) to maintain the safety of the freeways, so large debris in the road is a failure on their part to keep the roadways safe...
