I don't see how it could be done with out lifting. The work itself isn't extensive. Getting to the sections you need to will be the hard part. They say 12 hours but I highly doubt that it would actually take that long even with the lift. Turboed cars may be a bitch though and they may not touch them more due to liability issues. No doubt we will hear about every single person that has a problem getting the work done while not a peep out of those that have their heavily modified cars done without any issue at all.

The VIN for my FR-S is outside the range mentioned in these posts (7XXXXX) but when I input it on both the NHTSA and Toyota recall sites, they say its affected by the recall. Wait and see I guess.

Would be interesting to see if others get the same results.

Ouch. My number has come up.
Excuse to get TOB factored in with the deconstruction.

And it's one of the engines that doesn't have oil falling out all over.

Mine's on the list (no surprise there with number ...274). Maybe I'll have them do the spark plugs at the same time once I get it in since it's overdue X2 now.

Also have them do the other two recalls on my car, the one for checking the key doesn't come out when it's in park (it doesn't) and the one where the owner's manual needs correction.

Yep I'm almost at 90. I don't think I can justify taking mine in at this point.

Almost at 100k not sure I want to have the dealer in my engine bay. Last time I was there they were very unprofessional. Once it comes out could be the start of a whole new list of issues if not reinstalled correctly. Figure it should have blown by now.

So, if this recall is mandated by the NHTSA, theres a good change there WILL NOT be a recall in every country outside USA. On the other hand, some countries might follow suit. I guess it`s a waiting game.

On a curious note, my car was produced in 04/12 but the last 4 digits are 1855, so it appears my car precedes the recall batches. I don`t get it, they started making shitty springs after a few hundred cars were done?

Anyway if it was recalled now it would have to wait until April since she went into hibernation last night.

I doubt I would bother if I was involved (I am way outta it). I have now done a pretty deep dive and have not found one single reference to any of the listed cars breaking a valve spring. Not one.

You can search the Canadian VINS in the NHTSA site.
