With your car history, and you having a S14 at one point, I have to belive you. No for real, I'm forced to

Haha...thanks?

I just get a little tired when The Genesis Coupes get so much praise...I Don't understand it. Have people forgot what sports cars are supposed to drive like?...or are the people who Drive Genesis coupes and rave about them the people who haven't driven anything else 'sporty' .

If someone ever gives you their opinion about how a car drives, It goes a LONG way knowing what that persons owned and driven.

In the past 4 months ive driven ALOT of cars. '05 Carrera, '11 Bentley GT (bosses car), '12 mustang V6+V8, '13 GC 2.0T, G37, 370z, '12 GTI, '12 Civic Si, Fiat 500 Abarth, '12 MX-5, AP2 S2000, '10 RX-8, '10 Evo x,'07 S4 and a '13 320i/328i.

My comparison? If i could Draw a triangle with 3 dots, The 3 dots being a MX-5, AP2 S2000 and a RX-8, i'd put the FRS Dot RIGHT in the middle...i feel it has attributes and character cues akin to all three of these cars.

Anyone think i'm crazy?

BTW, the impression i get from a Genesis Coupe? A 2-Door RWD Sonata That desperately wants to be a G37

Up until my test drive of the auto 2013 GC 2.0T, I had really never driven a sporty car before besides a GTI for about 10 minutes. I had high expectations and was very excited to test the GC, but was left completely unimpressed. I'm not sure what a lot of people see in the car. It feels big and heavy. Fast, yes, but with not much driver-car connection at all. In all honestly, I found my old '97 106hp 2400lb Civic LX to be a far more engaging car to drive. The steering wheel had lots of feedback and I could tell what was happening at all times, whereas the GC just goes fast without telling you, until you see the speedo. The Civic was a crude car, but in a way it was that crudeness that kept me alert and attentive while driving it. I just traded it in for a 2011 Audi A3 2.0T S-Line 6MT, which is a fun and luxurious little DD, but now I miss my Civic. I guess I never fully appreciated it until it was gone.

Yea, man..i totally Get that. I've been driving all these cars lately..making sure before I'm fully dedicated to the BRZ before i buy it. I don't want to just be TOLD it's awesome. I want to KNOW why it's awesome. The truth is, after getting in and out of all these cars, and Driving my WRX home after test drives, It makes me realize the WRX is pretty damn nice. It's a tough car to beat, it'll be difficult to get rid of it for a BRZ really.

A RWD Sonata? Now I know you're trolling big time. I have driven two of the cars you have own and the GC 3.8 Track felt more like a slightly bigger 350Z and more like a G35 Sport. I think you just personally hate Hyundai and that's why you can't understand why the car gets so much positive than negative press. But the only people that cares for your review is the ones who already hated the GC to begin with.

And also I have never read anything positive about the WRX you own other than its scorching 0-60 in 4.8 second time and its price. On VIR the 3.8 Track GC did better than it did and tied with the STI which should've destroyed the GC.

My GF owns a 99 model LX with the same motor and it weighs the same and this is the worst car I have ever driven next to a 2001 Neon. The only reason she likes it is because it is her first car with no monthly payments. But if she wasn't just starting her career that car would be in dumpster. Sure its light but it's not at all engaging like you say.Our opinions differ on that. My RSX feels sportier with 400+ lbs added.

The 2013 FRS and the 2013 GC Premium 2.0T share a similar price point and 0 to 60 time but everything else is completely different. The GC has a far nicer interior: leather, heated seats, sunroof, more amenities, and more space. That being said it has worse steering feel, clunky transmission, too much body roll, good suspension and it feels like a boat. The FRS felt absolutely fantastic, with amazingly low stance, perfect transmission, ideal clutch and pedal placement, and sublime steering feel.

The car for me, a driver, that is focused on feel and fun would pick the FRS over the GC every time but I can see a lot of strengths in the GC. It's a compelling car and if I was looking for more of a Grand Tourer it would be my first choice in this price bracket.
Have you ever driven the R-Spec or Track models? The Premium spec suspension offers more bodyroll that would make the car feel more boat-like.

I'm pretty sure a lot of people here test drove a GC in traffic and came up with the opinion that it is not that fun to drive but I have seen the same said for the Toyobaru in a couple reviews unless you live on super curvy roads or live near a track. I also realize every review said you need to rev it to have real fun with it or else otherwise it will feel like a regular sub-compact.

Some people will stay bias. Even though the majority of cars I like come from JP I can never be bias because they all have flaws too.

I autocrossed a 3.8 Genesis for a year and comparing it to a G35/G37 coupe is about as accurate as it gets. It's a GT. I really like it, but it's just not a small nimble car. Different class of vehicle from a Miata/S2000/FR-S.

I would have liked to had the 2.0T, as I know it's lighter and maybe more nimble, but 3.8 is all I have to base my opinion on.

Totally would drive one as a DD though if I bought one.

I agree with your summary of the FRS completely, I've driven all three of those cars (Two of them for years). The 2013 GC is very comparable to a G37, which is sad really. The G37 is even less sporty than the GC, it feels like a Lexus which is not a compliment.

This is how I feel about the 2010 3.8 Track I test drove. I don't do autocrossing or tracking. But if I did I would be more about the FRS. For me it all depends on what feels sporty enough for the road.

Well, since i drive a POS wrx my opinion won't mean much

The 370 overall felt very nice. A little more focused and yet not as rough around the edges as the 350 i owned. A nice evoulution from the previous gen. A part of me wouldnt mind another one honestly. I don't know if i feel like spending that much again right now though. It'll be interesting to see which direction they take thr next z. Bigger more powerful to make room for another S chassis or if it itself takes the form of the S chassis
