I think it will depend on options and packages. We have seen photos of navigation, radios and aux ports so far.

ya but that might be an option and not on the base model right ?

would be very sad if i had to pay 2000$+ just to get a radio and ipod connectivity...

i dont like getting after market radios because they will not fit 100% and i have to remove the black block of death in the dash.

Not sure if Ellan is a spammer or not.. spamish link.. new user.. one post.. but relevant somewhat.. hmm.

Oh and USB appears to be on all (based only on what we've seen so far).. not sure about aux. I'm not sure why you'd use aux, much easier to control song selection and such through the headunit over a small portable device.

Features or sound quality? I never run 2 din setups so I'd have to research that to answer it. Currently I run a subpar headunit (Kenwood x995, yes it's top of the line for their single din excelon line but still, it's not fully active capable, crappy eq, poor TA, etc) to amps that are far too good for the car :P

I really don't want to build a SQ system for this car as it would warrant work to remove for every autocross/track day so I'm trying to leave the audio stock...

If the stock headunit has the features you want, but not the SQ, you could run it through a bit.one, ms-8, jl cleansweep, etc then run the outputs from that to amps and aftermarket speakers.

CES will be in January in Vegas so we should probably revisit this topic then to see what comes out for 2012.

According to the Scion FR-S press reveal, the FR-S will get the Scion-corporate head unit that is shared with all the other Scion models. It's a single CD with HD radio, USB, Aux input, and Bluetooth streaming.

The USB and Aux are in the storage cubby in front of the shifter. This is perfect to stash your phone/music player while it's plugged in.

That's along the lines I was thinking.
My main focus is SQ, but given today's technology, I should be able to have the features too. I know not everyone is a Apple fan, but I would love to be able to do full screen "mirroring" from my iPhone. That would be the bomb. I seen a few that have apps, but I'm looking specifically to mirror the phone and I do not know of any such device at this point.

If you don't need the radio portion, just digital media, you can use an iPad as a source. Run that into a bit.one, process the sound as needed, and run active to each channel or just run channels to passive crossovers after the amps, etc.

As for what you specifically want, there is no device that I know of that does that and honestly it probably won't happen. The trend has been going to equalize support for android devices as much as the apple devices have been supported in the past so I suspect everything released this year will do pandora control as well as full music player control of android and apple devices (until recently only apple has had full functionality with headunits and pandora control, I believe someone did recently release a HU that did pandora control through androids.

Depending on how annoying the HU is I'll consider swapping it out for something. I'd prefer not to since I'd like to keep the built in XM (although you can adapt the antenna to aftermarket tuners), etc. Reusing the USB would be simple at least.. although I tend to have my USB and device connected to it out of sight (and out of a theifs reach) in my cars.

At the minimum I'll probably install a replacement 3 way speaker configuration up front and remove the rears, then run rear output from the HU (stock or aftermarket) to the amp channel for the door speakers and run the front output to the amp channel for the mid/tweet (ran passively crossed). I'll just have to find an easy place to run the amp that will be easily removable (that spare tire shelf perhaps) and maybe consider throwing in a sub.. maybe self powered junk just to have some bass when I want it. Hopefully the whole system for the FR-S will cost less than the amps in the ITR :P

Idk about Subaru, but I know all Scion comes standard with USB/AUX/Ipod. I think that most cars in general come with that standard now and if a 16k Scion XD does, I'm sure a 20k+ FRS and Subaru BRZ will as well
