I've had one on all my cars since a ticket on my parked '73 2002. Just feels like $ I have to pay for my own ignoring of the law. Even if it is only $25 that's a decent bottle of wine, 12 pack of good beer, or Jack.

The off-center look of the tow hook mounts makes my OCD act up and I have to pop a bunch of meds, so mine is in the center.

I ran no plate in front on my GTI ( FRS in the build process). Got pulled over, $70 ticket. In MD, it just gives the heat an excuse to pull you over.
The second time I was pulled for no plate, he started asking about my exhaust and why it was so loud... I said it's stock and it's just a little louder when cold. Amazingly he bought that. That car has a a turbo back APR with no resonator and is loud as shit. You can hear me from a mile away.

Experience in CA. I got a fix it ticket from a meter maid while parked on the street. CHP wouldn't sign off on the ticket because I had tints on my car. Ended up paying the 80$ for the ticket and decided to put my plates on.

I never run a front plate (just about 15 years) and I've only ever gotten 1 ticket for it.

I was thinking of buying a plate relocator and put on a Japanese license plate and have my actual front plate on the dash.

The Japanese plate would just cause more attention to your car. Then he will realize that your actual plate is on your dash, which is just as illegal as not running a front plate.

I haven't run a front plate since I got mine. 7500+ miles/5 months and no issues with the plate. I've been pulled over a bunch since I got the car but they never said anything about the plate. Oh, and I got away with a warning on all but one stop

I guess it's the whole JDM thing. My Dad drives an Accord with a novelty front plate and his real plate on the back and he has never been pulled over ever.
