The reality is it's Italian and all the stereotypes associated, they're still developing it and will never stop because the project is a hot mess, and if you handed me the keys I probably wouldn't let go of them ever.
I agree it backfired and would never, ever consider buying one if I was in the market. But the point still stands. The Alfa was on the road with with near-final running gear in 2-years time. My argument is falling solely within the context of 'is this final sheet-metal or not.' My position being that, yes, the body is at least 85% complete which I recognize is seemingly disappointing a group of people.

I firmly assume based on basically zero facts that people want this to be something it isn't, and that I am selfishly arguing my own desires that are being projected onto the prototype / test mule / whatever it is called.

My money is on a BMW powertrain I4 base with I6 optional with Toyota bumpers and parts bin interior. It'll sit right where the Z4 sat from the power/weight to the price, ~$50k for the base to swing at the Boxster and ~$70k for the straight 6 and higher for M trims. Toyota will slide in a bit cheaper than bimmer due to lack interior accoutrements across the lineup.

Expect modern meh BMW handling characteristics and weight.
I've been waiting too long for a new supra, stop crushing my dreams.

It could end up looking nothing like that, remember the gt86 test mule?

That thing was literally held together with duct tape

I can see enough through the camo to say that if this is even close to the final profile, not a fan. it has Camaro tank windows, and the big ass droopy nose of the 2017 86. For the same money, I'd rather have a Vette.

SupraMKV Source

I saw the spy shots of this new Supra Prototype and wanted to see what was under that camo to see if there was anything special about it by shading the shapes of each panel into a solid color and turning it into a 2dish vector with ambient occlusion. Adminroku contacted me and asked if i wanted to show this with the SupraMKV.com community. It was my pleasure as always to share this render and discovery with you all.

A few things I discovered. The chassis and overall shape of the car is brand new, and is more of a prototype and not a mule. It has heavy influence from the FT-1 concept car from the A,B,C pillar, roofline, quarter panel, and trunk.

While i was peeling away the swirls, I came across several flush panels that were bolted on the length of the bumpers, fenders, hood, and even tail lamps. I typically do not see these bolt on sheet metal in prototypes unless they either ...hiding a feature, or was just used to get the car out for testing and has no real reflection on the direction the production car will have.

Seeing as how the production concept has still at least a year before we see any real styling elements that may make it to the release of the car in 2018. Its likely that the Bumpers, hood, fenders, side steps, headlamp and tail lamp seen on this prototype should not be considered as anything but fluff. However the Roof, pillars trunk will likely be solid elements found in the production car in 2018. Meaning the Chassis/Frame is close to getting finalized and approved.

I'll be adding more "unwrapped" pictures in this thread the next few days, and from there I'll put out a compost of a what I believe the final production car will look like. Enjoy!

I actually would not have minded that hitting the market.
A Corrado for those of us who want the car to work.

Lets just hope who ever designed the new 86 isn't also responsible for this one...

Certainly possible, although MKIVs are deceivingly long, it's just hard to tell how long this prototype is.
