Agree w/ this! I contacted a HS buddy who owns a detailing business about water spots on my car that I think were there from when I bought it. He had me bring it over, checked it out, and gave me ideas for how to deal with the spots (all DIY things unless I wanted to pay him for it!).

He also gave me a bottle of ONR and 4 towels - MF, waffle, and 2 thin ones for glass. Told me to get a pump up sprayer and use the ONR in that. A little less than a half capful of the stuff in a 1/2 gallon sprayer, car is gorgeous in 30min or less.

I got my sprayer at the local Ace Hardware - it's meant for weed killer.

He also said if I wanted just basic weekly glass cleaning, mix white vinegar 50/50 w/ distilled water and use a spray bottle. It works great, glass is spotless. Clean it with one of the thin rags, dry it with the other.

I really don't get the idea of partially filling the second bucket with ONR and water. As you squeeze out your sponge, you're putting dirty water into the bucket. Now as the bucket fills up with more and more dirty water, you're dipping your already dirty sponge into it, wiping it on the grit guard, then squeezing out the sponge. What is the point of dipping your dirty sponge into dirty water?

You fill it below the grit guard initially so you're not "dipping it". But you wring it out and wipe on guard. This way the grit stays in the water as opposed to sticking to the towel. Basically you give the grit an extra place to go as opposed to staying on the towel. If I didn't make it clear... ONR attracts dirt particles, it's why it works so well. so having a little ONR-water in the "dirty bucket" helps.

Thanks. Obviously I didn't make it to the first post, I got sidetracked by Internet "I know more than you" posts.

This is a pretty neat article, I never heard of ONR before. I just got done buying a bunch of car wash gear from Sams Club and I just finished washing my car. I plan on trying this out on my BRZ in the next few weeks

Can I still use ONR like a normal car soap? Would there be any pros/cons to prerinsing the car prior to washing, or would it just be a waste of water?
