I didn't go to the thread on the changes with the K&N let me link it but the material is thinner hints why its longer and the casing material weaker which is why there were further holes needed in the top to relieve pressure.

I never used the K&N ones I always liked Purolator and Wix but was talked into sticking with OEM about 6 months ago. I will obviously not be continuing that trend and going back to what I normally used. Honestly with how often I change the filter anyway (every 2 months) I was only concerned with how much it caught. I used to change the oil that often but after having access to Amsoil at such a good price I made the switch to that in the Vette.
The FR-S being under warranty and having free oil changes for the time being means I will just stick with the dealer products for the time being.

I just liked the research done on the other filters in the link provided. It was interesting to see the Royal Purple one being the best. Although the Amsoil one was not far behind it and the Mobil one filters which were always popular are quite good as well.

This was how they rated the filters in that research:
http://www.gmtruckcentral.com/articl...omparison.html

Whats really weird is the Fram Xtended Guard is #3 and the Cheaper Purolator is #6 where as the better Purolator is much further down. Mobil 1 looks like #4.

Send a message via Yahoo to jeffsides
I threw a check engine and stability control light today. After many idle dip stalls, I swapped back to my factory intake and all the lights are gone with no more idle dip issues.

Off-topic (like that doesn't happen around here )

I remember some time ago a few fellow members talking about CCNA or some such certification. I have a few questions and need some advice. Send me a PM (to avoid flooding this thread) if you are knowledgeable on the subject and are willing to give some advice.

Thanks!

For those of you with smoked taillights, how did you do it? Wrap? Paint yourself? I know @jeffsides and a few others have this and a friend of mine wants the same look.

Mine was done by a friend and i with auto paint and clearcoat. Jeff has collins tails now. Some have used a thicker overlay material similar to tint.some have used niteshades tinting spray.

The Captains are some of the best I have seen done in some time. I have done quite a few projects with taillights and since decided I do not like them as much. However his made me change my mind, I would like having a set like his.

Let me see if I have any examples of some of my many prior vehicles that had some forum of tail light modding done.

Wow looking through some of those pictures and my past... times I had forgotten about.
