How did so many of you get the insurance so cheap ? My car is expected to arrive next week, I just called AAMI for a quote, Im a safe driver, no points lost, no disqualifications, no accidents etc. Told them no mods on the car, no finance etc. And they quoted me on Excess $625, total price $2459.84. Im no where near some of the deals you all getting. Im not a P plater Ive got my full license, safe area, locked in a garage and this price still sucks

U gotta shop around bud, prices vary from one insurer to the next. It also don't help if you're under 25 :/ Rating 1 helps too . . .

Im 27 so it shouldnt. But it trips me out that they asked for that much, i wouldve thought that would be the price if I was a red p plater or something not experienced and safe driver and a locked up car etc. Because going over the pages some people are with aami and seem to have similar conditions to me yet they have a cheaper quote somehow. But I did shop around Youi wanted 3500 lol even higher. NRMA has the best option so far they asked for 1600 and stated any legal mods to the car they cover for no additional cost so thats a beauty when I add an aero kit to it

Yeah 2.5K is a joke, regardless. Perhaps for a WRX maybe but not an 86. I'm not sure you can get RACV to insure you but I would try calling them if you can, you'd be pleasantly surprised, car mods allowed provided it's legal in your state.

Cheapest for me was Coles Insurance $329 after online and flybuys discounts with $2000 excess for market value. This doesn't matter to me since I'll never be at fault also gotta love those bonus flybuys points.

28 yr old, Male. Carlingford.

No accidents or points lost since for 12 years.

37 year old rating 1, RACV Complete Cover ~$1,300. Pay by the month with no extra charge for paying by the month. I think $350 or $650 excess. Agreed value $40,500, but should bump that for mods.

But that is with combined policy discount [with home].

Actually, everything was covered, I even indicated that I had custom audio installed.

To me swapping premium for excess is worth it since by my experience I've never had a claim for 12 years of daily driving.

Premium is a must pay and excess is only paid whenever you don't have someone else to point a finger at.

You just need to weigh up how likely an accident is going to be caused by you, your parking skills and if you have any clumsy people in your family.

I just insured my new 86 GTS with RACV with 18" wheels and 3 demerit points for only $448.00 full comprehensive with 2 year car replacement clause. I didn't think it was that cheap until I got a quote from Shannons today which was $ 981.00 with only one year replacement cause.
