For me it all came down to the Out The Door price and what I felt comfortable paying monthly (again, no salesman trickery because I already had my financing handled), and i couldn't justify springing for either the limited or series.blue. My only steadfast NEED for the car was that it had to be MT and World Rally Blue. |

#financialmistake Pretty much sums it up.
I sure as hell love my car though. No one can tell you if something is worth it when it comes to things like this. It's either you feel it or not. |

I think definitely worth it.. but not for 30k.
25k for a BRZ Limited with <10k miles is good. |

The only question is engine strength & the reality is look for the number of aftermarket turbo kits. |

I get like around 30 miles per gallon on 91 Octane in California- 70% highway 20% city 10% spirited driving. What other car, in this cheap sports car segment, on the market yield these gains?! None, if you're talking brand new. The only car in my head that competes with the twins is the S2K. Miata, sure, but it looks like crap... unless you're talking about the NA Chassis, which itself is old and the motors inside of 'em are pretty powerless. (I'm not trashing the Miata; I actually drove a '93 Miata for 3 months straight last summer) Why S2K? It performs better, handles like a bossss, and vtec- srs. This is coming from a guy who don't really like Hondas. With this said, most S2ks' now are either pretty beat up, have pretty high milage, or are extremely expensive in respect to their condition to value ratio. The S2K is a GREAT cheap track and fun car to drive. The twins on the other hand are just as good, but slightly more on the practical and economical side. For a daily driver, Twins > S2k. For a young guy like me, if I had the choice of going with either a S2K or a Twin, I'd go with the S2K (wow shocker!) because I can careless about practicality and etc, since I don't really carry much in my car. With that said, I think the best fun to dollar ratio car at the moment, is the 2015 WRX. Why? Cheaper price than the BRZ, not to mention faster. Con is that the insurance will be more expensive, oh and two extra doors.

The easiest way to define whether or not a car is "worth it" is look at how they hold their value on the used market. Any car that has strong value retention is being considered by the general public to be "worth it."

Cars are an emotional purchase. don't over think it or else you won't be ble to make a decision. humans justify their decisions no matter what so you'll make a reason to love it. something new and cool always comes out.

The BRZ is a blast to drive around town. That said I don't think the car is worth $30k. I went with a 2013 Premium and got it for $25k. When you start getting over 30k your options for fun cars greatly expands. My issue was once I was looking at the 30k cars, it became really easy to look at $35k cars like an sti, Evo, or 370z. Then it goes well if I spending 35k on a 370z I might well go up to 40k and get the nismo package.
tldr: the fun to cost ratio of a BRZ at 25k blows everything out of the water. It become a much tighter race at 30k. |
