I have been out for a few spirited drives on twisty roads this week since the reflash, as well as daily commuting in manual mode only.

I gavent had one single incident of hard shift, and so I'm calling this fixed.

Thanks again to the OP for posting the TSB info.

My car is going in for service this weekend. I've already talked to service writer about this issue. I told him about the TSB and I was told I need to leave my car there all day for them to do it. I printed out the TSB. Hoping I'll get my car back at the end of the day on Saturday. If not hope they give me a loaner car. Highly unlikely but I can hope.

All day?! I was told 2 hours but took them 30-45 minutes not including the "test drive" the mechanic has to do- which was about 5 minutes of puttering around. They must be crazy busy haha

Good luck and hope everything works out!

Yea that's weirdly long to get it done, I'm assuming other maintenance is being performed so that's acceptable. It's pretty awesome how we got this taken care of and caused the creation of a
TSB

Just to check in again, car is still a-ok.

Any Canadians in this situation who are being given a hard time about getting the reflash done, please, please, please call Toyota Corporate and raise hell about it. Don't do what I did with trying to fight with the dealer for almost a year. Go straight to corporate and open a case. Also, if you're "heavily modified, which is the root of the problem"like they tried to tell me, make a point to say that it's a software issue. Don't just roll over and take it.

What's shitty is the fact that we now that have around 13 confirmed cases where this issue has occured for the most part outside of the vin range, it's about time that the fix is extended to all 2015-2016 cars

Yea but in Coles case, and what almost occurred in my case is that they refused to do the TCM reflash when the car is out of the VIN range. They make up some bullshit excuse like "how do we know the reflash won't damage the ecu", when it's quite obvious it's a simple tcm logic flash.

Not even that, my Vin was in the correct range, but they blamed it on everything from my header to my after market toe arms. I finally said fuck it, took almost everything off and went back to mostly stock and they finally caved. Even though I demonstrated it happening on a '16 that was bone stock on the lot, they still said " but your mods bro, fuck off"

That's even more ridiculous, the toe arms are in no way connected to the transmission. I hope you fucked them over and got them in trouble with corporate as much as possible.

Same with me. They were hesitant to do it and said that my original TCM flash cannot be recovered.

I did my best. I've been so unimpressed with my local Toyota service department it's not even funny. From the tech telling me I'm not driving properly, to the service manager brushing me off as a kid, I can't wait until I'm out of free oil changes there so I can finally break off my relationship with them.

Cannot be recovered?! Its the same process as any other car similiar to the steps when you flash a tune from OFT except it takes about 5-10 minutes longer
