Pics: Supra A90 size comparison to FRS/86

My dealer got their first 2020 Supra in. I decided to take some pics of it together with my frs.

Here are some pictures. Similar in length, but the A90 Is definitely much wider lol.

Any other thoughts? Does it look better in person?

Some angles it looks atrocious, some angles the lines just don't line up.

It looks really good in person. I think people should make up their minds after seeing one up close.

The rear fenders are really wide and its a pretty unique look. There is a lot of space for some bigger wheel setups.

My only dislike from the design would have to be the front fender/clamshell hood design. The front fender is really round... its too conservative when you compare all the other character lines.

Interior wise, its nice. This one has the red interior. The color contrast breaks up a rather bland interior design... The materials are nice, i'm just not a fan of the layout for controls.

Seeing the 86 and the GR Supra side by side brings to mine Jeremy Clarkson's comment when they reviewed the LFA and RCF side by side. "one looks as clean as a freshly picked blackberry and the other is a fancy over the top dish served to stupid idiots in overpriced restaurants"
In this case the 86's lines just looks so clean and purposeful. The Supra and its many unnatural awkward creases looks so overdone and stupid. I wouldn't trade my BRZ for a Supra any day.

Probably unpopular opinion but I think the FRS/BRZ/86 looks better.

while i can see how some people are going to like the rear duck tail on the a90, i just wish it wasn't part of the rear body work so others like me could go without. because once a large wing is added over the top of it, it'll look stupid.

The whole rear looks like a child or Civic type R designer made it. Just too much going on back there.

Cleaner, leaner, sexier, lines on the 86, coke bottle not beer bottle.

I saw it in person at the Chicago Auto Show back in February. Didn't like it then, and don't really like it now. I can't quite put my finger on what exactly is wrong with it,but the FT-1 concept version was light years better looking.Small tweaks from that version would've been well received, instead, they tamed in way too much, just like they did with the concept for the current gen STI.

I've said it before,if the car had at least a manual option,a lot would be forgiven.

Don't think so. That is a typical over the top Japanese, not European design. Obviously Toyota did not pay an external design firm to pen this. For some reasons Japanese cannot do simple clean lines. They go crazy with adding more and more crease and "stuff" that eventually ruins the flow of things and just make it look idiotic. Their ridiculous samurai armor design shows this problem. somebody please send Akio Pinnifarina's number

Actually unpopular opinion, I found the FT1 butt ugly, looked way too much like an exotic, and like every concept car ever made, was a highly exaggerated version of the actual production car. I think the production A90 actually sticks truer to the concept's design cues than most concept to production vehicles, and that it actually does it well. Likewise, I'll take the panache of the Supra, the new CTR over things that are too understated.

I'll even argue that the ft86 is way too understated for what it is; I didn't even know this car existed until I started car shopping last year and the MY17 Toyota bumper caught my eye. The sleek subtle curves of this car make it almost indistinguishable from the rest of the vehicles I'd see on the road, even having watched the Top Gear episode some years ago they were completely unmemorable cars to me. After owning it I can definitely appreciate it a lot more, but it doesn't exactly turn heads. The Supra on the other hand..

Speak for yourself lol. I'm actually shocked at the amount of attention my car receives daily. Had a V12 Vantage driving behind me the other day and people were pulling up along side me to see what my car was. Then again, I'm red, very shiny, with 18" hyper silver concave wheels and on a lowered suspension, so the whole package is very striking. I routinely watch people huddled around my car outside a coffee shop trying to figure out what it is. Had people shining torches inside the windows at night to catch a logo (creepy). It's an extremely eye-catching thing, the 86, if you tastefully mod it to complement its stylistic strengths. IMO, stock, this car is a bit dinky looking. Too high, with under-sized wheels that are too far inboard and a face that is just too aggressive for the rest of itself. Do what I did though, and all of a sudden it all comes together as one cohesive and attractive package. Oh and my seats are tan... I think that creates some quasi-lux look
