The elevated Copper count I would say is because of the newly installed OEM oil cooler which got completed 3 weeks earlier before this sample was taken.

@bluesubie - the elevated Silicon levels are starting to annoy me as new air filters are have no resolve. Would you say this is an acceptable count for Silicone or should I look to dumping the OEM filter & use something else like K&N ? Would appreciate your thoughts.

Cheers
I wouldn't go with a K&N if you want to reduce silicon. A WRX owner on nasioc reduced his silicon quite a bit by switching from K&N to OEM paper. In my experience, I actually had the lowest silicon numbers running an Amsoil Ea filter. Even lower than OEM (from teens down to single digits).

I know some Subaru owner's that actually remove the entire airbox when replacing the air filter on older models. It's also a pain on some models to get the filter in just right and make sure that there are no leaks.

Yep I did this on the initial recent new air filter install (removed the whole box from the intake tube clamp back) but didn't on subsequent 2nd & 3rd filter removals due to 'slackism' when I did the oil pressure sensor/gauge & OEM oil cooler installs & I have already noted I somehow easily fudged @ least one of the corners on the damn thing :/ Sh1t air box/filter design.

I may just get a new one & do this properly soon.

Thanks @bluesubie for the tip

Edit . . . . some pics of that air box . . looks like the air filter fit is about as good as it gets with this poorly made air box. What ya'll think ?
