ECU Showing Throttle % ?
Hey guys, so now that I have an OBD2 Scan Tool, I was getting curious.
I got one of the WiFi ones that hooks up to your phone using an app, which I thought was nice. So I found a section in the app called 'Throttle', and I got curious. Checked it out, and it's exactly what it says it is. It's how much percentage the gas pedal is being pushed in. So without the car on, it said it was at 14.5% Throttle, and I pushed the gas pedal all the way in and it only got to about 80%. Is that normal? Should it be going over 80 when pushed in, and below 14 when not pushed in at all? I know it can all probably be tweaked in the ECU, but I'm just wondering if this is limiting the performance of the car, or anything of the sorts. I'd love to hear back from some of you! I'd also like to mention that I have no experience with the ECU, this was the first time I even found out you could use an OBD2 Scan Tool yourself, LOL. Thanks in advance for the answers guys. If anyone is wondering, it's a 2013 Auto Scion FRS |

You're actually looking at the angle of the throttle plate/butterfly.

I thought this is measuring the position of the throttle position sensor. Basically, the sensor needs to have a little wiggle room, and will never be fully at its own stops when the pedal is fully depressed (that 80-something %) or fully raised (the 14.5%). I could be wrong and it is indeed measuring the valve position after all, but I thought it was a measurement of the sensor travel.
