Look for Miatas. They are just as awesome as FRS and BRZs and can be had for dirt cheap. I just found on on some forum for 2k and it was fully prepped for AutoX. I am looking for pretty much the same thing and I have been looking at Miatas, Imprezas, Legacys, Civics and other cheap fun cars. I found a salvage title SVX with a 5-speed swap that was in decently shit condition. It was for 2k, which is probably too much, but it has so much character... I might be driving that through winter..

It is cheap... it's not older than 25 yrs old. If you're looking at 25yrs or older, then go w Rx-3 or even first gen Rx-7. 2nd gen or even 3rd gen civics are dirt cheap, CRX are cheap also. There's Subaru Brat if you wanna go w Subie side. Another good one is 300Z, sometimes you can find em for $500~$1k

What about the old Subaru coupe (RX? I can't remember the name) of the same era? Loyales are apparently tanks, and super cheap around here. Wouldn't count too much on 'fun', though.

i'm not too worried bout fun. if it's too much fun, i won't wanna drive the 86 as much, and i can't have that.
also: gf pissed me off today. she was off work, and i actually got a day off work. i figured she'd want to come over and spend time with me. no....she'd rather work on her cosplay stuff. >.< |
