From the transcript they cited in the article:
Quote:
Our cost of sales for the COVID vaccine revenue will include manufacturing and distribution costs, a royalty payment allowance as well as the payment to BioNTech, representing the 50% gross profit split. All in, this yields an anticipated income before tax from COVID vaccine in the high 20% range. Let me add that if we contract for additional -- if we contract for the delivery of additional doses during the year, we will provide a guidance update in our subsequent earnings releases.
That is pre tax profits. Pfizer will hopefully pay taxes on that, which significantly reduces the net profit. Less than it would 5 years ago, but that is another matter entirely...

Another point to pick out from the transcript is:
Quote:
Adjusted R&D expenses grew 24% in the quarter and 15% for the year on an operational basis. This growth was primarily driven by our investment
in developing the COVID-19 vaccine.
So they are incurring cost to develop a product.

Obviously this is early data, and the data will change with more studies, but it seems to indicate that there are those among us with a stronger natural defense against this others that may not benefit from a vaccination. And those with this ability are not a threat to anyone else's existence of health.

Does that mean this applies to everyone, absolutely not. But is is something to consider. And those thinking the vaccination is the end all solution to this virus are very short sighted, Pfizer and Moderna have both already stated that the antibodies their vaccines produce are lost/weakened over time and boosters will likely be needed to retain the immunity, miss a booster and back to square one.

It's all quite interesting.
Yeah we'll see who gets the Darwin award.. Maybe those dependent on injections..

Well the Darwin award goes to those who evolve to overcome obstacles. Not those complacent with where they are as they wither away and die off.

Or whose bodies evolve and aren't complacent on vaccines. I did post a study before that shows that people with natural immunity are better off fighting new variants and those with just the vaccine were only better at specifically COVID19.

I suppose you’ll be skipping your Shingles vaccine?

Which just goes to the point I always make that no corporation pays taxes, ultimately it is the consumer that pays the embedded taxes in everything.

Every product price point ever set includes the corporate tax rate as part of the cost calculation. No company has ever "eaten" tax costs.

I’m assuming you’ve had chicken pox before, so you should have enough natural immunity now.

Yes, and I do, at least for now. Doesn't mean I shouldn't get it when I get older.

No you shouldn't. You've chosen the route of not relying on vaccines

That made me think...

There are a lot of vaccines that require boosters (tetanus being the one that came first to mind since I'm due for one). Why is there a concern about the COVID vaccine potentially requiring another booster down the road?
